Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Evokes Harper Lee's "Too Kill a Mockingbird"
Review: Very original, good mystery. The way Cook gives pieces to the puzzle slowly allowing the reader to imagine ahead only to be narrowed by each piece as its laid. Wonderful pacing and diction. Within a few pages I couldn't help but think of Harper Lee.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: More than just a mystery.
Review: Very well written. A character mystery as well as a plot mystery. We don't understand the characters, or even the narrator, until the end.

This is the first of Cook's books I have read, but I will read more. I like his style, the gradual unlayering of the past.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best mysteries ever written!
Review: While there are a couple of other titles by Thomas H. Cook which I prefer, I can see why this book won the Edgar Award. It is one of the most beautifully written, cleverly crafted mysteries I've ever read (and that's a lot!). Do not pass go, do not collect $200.00 - read this book!
