Summary: Most of the stories are very un-MHC
Review: THE ANASTASIA SYNDROME - One Star - This story is very un-Mary Higgins Clark. It might be a good story if you believe in supernatural powers. I don't, therefore it left me disappointed. It is well-written, she created a very dark and eerie atmosphere but the whole theory of the Anastasia Syndrome seems pretty silly to me. TERROR STALKS THE CLASS REUNION - Five Stars - This is a stupid title but a great story. It makes you feel as helpless as the victim. I had a nightmare about this story the night after I finished it - and I read a lot of suspense stories but almost never dream about them! LUCKY DAY - Three Stars - A nice story about trust but not outstanding. I liked the ending, it is very good - and surprising. DOUBLE VISION - Four Stars - A very creepy story about acting and revenge. It includes another supernatural appearance but this one is easier to tolerate than "The Anastasia Syndrome". THE LOST ANGEL - Three Stars - A Christmas story with a very predictable ending. Not much suspense but okay to read.

Summary: THE ANASTASI SYNDROME AND OTHER STORIES
Review: The Anastasia Syndrome and Other Stories, Mary Higgins Clark

I will be writing a book report of The Anastasia Syndrome and Other Stories. It is by Mary Higgins Clark and includes four other stories besides "The Anastasia Syndrome". "The Anastasia Syndrome" is about a woman whose mind gets taken over by an evil woman from the past. When the evil woman is controlling her mind, Judith, the main character, doesn't remember anything that happened. Judith is writing a book about the time which the evil woman is from, so she is involved in the events in which the evil woman was in. It takes place in England but Judith travels around quite a bit. She is a war orphan and is searching for her lost family. She is engaged to the next prime minister, and she doesn't want the news of her search to be revealed. The evil woman in her mind is controlling her and makes her do evil things, like try to bomb a statue, and the tower of London. It is a good book, and also includes facts from the history of England. It has a great surprise ending and I loved it! The other stories are, "Terror Stalks the Class Reunion", "Lucky Day", "Double Vision", and "The Lost Angel". In "Terror Stalks", a woman gets abducted when she goes to her class reunion. "Lucky Day" is about a woman whose luck changes very dramatically in one swift move. "Double Vision" is about a jealous actor that goes back to kill the director that he believes ruined his career. "The Lost Angel" is a story about a young girl that gets lost in New York City, with her mother frantically trying to find her before other miseries come upon her. I think that it is a very good book, and I recommend any of Mary Higgins Clark's books. In my opinion, she is an excellent writer. This book is part mystery, history, and fantasy, filled with suspense.

Summary: Great Reading!
Review: The sories in this book are great reading. This is the 2nd book by Mary Higgins Clark that I have read and I loved it. Having 5 short stories in one book was great for my short attention span. If you do not have a lot of time to sit down and read a whole book at one time, this would deffinatly be a good to read. You could read one story at a time.

My favortie story was the first one, The Anastasia Syndrome. A womans mind is taken over by an evil womans mind from the past. You will never guess how it ends.

The other four stories were very enjoyable reads as well. Terror Stalks the Class Reunion will keep you guessing through the whole story.

Lucky Day starts out as a lucky day for one man and turns out to be unlucky for him and two other people.

Double Vision is a bit of a stretch for the title. You have to read it to find out why.

The Lost Angel is my least favorite but an enjoyable read any way.

Summary: Science fiction
Review: This book is a murder mystery where you know who?s done it all along. Judith Chase is an American writer doing research in London. She meets and falls in love with a British politician, the heir to the position of prime minister. She has some psychological baggage that she?s dealing with, however. She?s a British war orphan who was adopted by an American soldier as a small child, and her politician lover urges her to postpone any research on her British birth family until after the elections, at least. But the sights and sounds of London are all too familiar for Judith and she starts having flashbacks. She can?t put off learning about her birth family any longer and that?s where she gets into trouble.

Much of the plot of the story turns on an invented psychological theory called the Anastasia syndrome, in which personae from the past can connect directly with living people. In the book, this is done through mind altering drugs which result in a split personality. Of course, that?s clearly not how a split personality works in real life, so the story lacks a lot in the area of plausibility. Nevertheless, it is well told and engaging. If you can get past the science fiction foundation, it?s an enjoyable read- -right up until the sudden bizarre plot twist at the end.

Review: This book mixs orginal Higgins with some new plots twists and turns. Terror stalks the Class Reunion is a great story. Short sweet and to the point.Lucky Day is also a good story. THis was the first higgins book I have read in over 15 years and I loved it!! I went out and bought every new book of hers I could find!!

Summary: Didn't really hold my interest.
Review: This was one of the earlier MHC books and it is obvious. The Anastasia Syndrome is obviously a collection of "short" MHC stories. The final one with the woman actually believing she was some sort of royalty was absurd. But, it's light entertainment, and to give the woman credit, it was an early novel.
