Rating: Summary: Where will Madeline Go Next? Review: I do hope that this is one of a series of books bringing us Madeline's adventures. Lighthearted with the right twist of mystery. The vivid imagery made me feel like I was standing in Victoria Station and Trafaglar Square with the tour group. A great change from the heavily dominated pink ink genre on the bookshelves today. I cannot wait to see where Madeline will travel next
Rating: Summary: Great start for a new author Review: I find it hard to believe that this is the first novel published by this author. The story is genuine and the characters seems real. I made the mistake of downloading it early in the morning on a work day. After reading the first few paragraphs, I had to get a cup of coffee and continue. Needless to say, my work day was shot and I read the whole thing, not speed reading, mind you, I wanted to savor each chapter. The characters were so delicious, especially the two old ladies. I hope this is the beginning of many adventures with Madeline.
Rating: Summary: A Race to the Finish Review: If I ever go on a tour, I hope that I have Madeline Marlborough for my tour guide (along with a stress test before I leave). It is clear that Carol Parrilli knows the travel business and can add that knowledge to her imagination to spin a most exciting tale. Once the tour group started their "adventure," I found myself racing to the end to see how everything worked out.
I look forward to Madeline's next adventure!
Rating: Summary: A Fun, Entertaining Novel Review: Madeline Marlborough is an experienced tour director but in The Burlington Affair, things don't all go as planned for the group she leads to England.
I love this book because it has so many enjoyable elements: mystery, travel, history, and humor. The characters are well-developed and likeable, the locations are vividly described, and the story really grabbed me. Once I started reading, I didn't want to stop.
I can't wait to see where Madeline travels next. It's sure to be an entertaining voyage.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Ms. Parrilli's book is a spellbinding read. Not only was I swept up in a tantalizing mystery, I was also taught fascinating stories of English history. I was thoroughly entertained by the characters who comprised the travel group in the story--their fearless, funny leader Madeline and all of her inventive followers. I was brought to tears by the displays of British kindness shown to these Americans the week after 9-11. The lush descriptions of the food and wine served to this group and of their lavish accommodations made me hunger for travel in London and the Cotswolds. Catch a good, deep breath before plunging into the rushing conclusion of this mystery, because you'll forget to breathe during your reading of it. Go, Madeline! Please, travel again and tell us all about it.
