Rating: Summary: Sudden Loss of Serenity Review: More than a murder mystery, Sudden Loss of Serenity by Jacqueline Wallen contains deep insights into the nature of human beings, of the quest for the spiritual dimension, and of evil incarnate. A powerhouse of writing about fear and courage, it is hard to believe this is a first effort in the in the area of fiction, feeling rather more like the high point of a successful literary career.
Wallen investigates the basic themes of life: the desire to live both for one's self and for those one loves, a commitment to self-betterment and fulfillment, the strength to recognize and reject malice and the intrepidness to endure.
Written with the double-barrelled weapons of a distinguished academic and publishing (non-fiction) career, and an informed self-searching life, Wallen's book is like a Beethoven composition, the many worthy themes conspiring together for good.
Bravo and thanks, Wallen!
