Rating: Summary: WHAT A PAGE TURNER Review: As a mother of two young children, I don't read as much as I'd like, and when I do, it normally takes a while to finish the book. Not so with Sentinel Event. From the very start, I was hooked. That book went with me to school runs, to the gym, wherever. I loved the suspense of it, and found it exciting and unpredictable. It was a really fun read that I strongly recommend.
Rating: Summary: It knocked my socks off Review: Couldn't put it down, from beginning to end. Couldn't wait for the next chapter. The main character was so believable I thought I must have really known him in person. Can't wait for the next in the series. I love Jake Stein.
Rating: Summary: A great read Review: Everytime I put this put down, I'd be compelled to pick it up again and continue reading. I found the main character extremely believable, and I was kept in suspense till the very end. Looking forward to the next one!
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ! Review: I finished this book the same day I started it! Wonderful plot - a mix of suspense, action, and mystery, all set in a colourful, interesting location. The main character was great! Can't wait to read the next one....
Rating: Summary: A Pleasant Surprise ! Review: I must admit that before this book was brought to my attention I had no idea what a Sentinel Event was, and had not heard of the author... but, being a fan of mysteries and thrillers, and for some reason trusting the person that recommended it, I gave it a go. I was pleasantly surprised-this book is a real page turner- I finished it in a single evening and started looking for the next book by the writer. My only complaint- I need more Jake Stein books! Jules Seletz is a very talented writer, and his love of the process shows in his books.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I read "Sentinel Event" at the gym while on the treadmill. I got so absorbed in the book that I forgot everything else. It was the shortest three hour workout I ever had. This murder mystery had all the suspense, action and twists to keep me turning the pages. I definitly rate "Sentinel Event" right up there with all the classic whodunits. Can't wait for the next Jake Stein novel!
Rating: Summary: Helen Libby's rewiew of Sentinel Event Review: I read Sentinel Event, starting with the page, "About the book", continuing with the Foreword, and the Prologue, and found the beginning information to be very interesting. I was then anxious to get into the meat of the book. The book was a good read right from the start, with a good plot, and plenty of dialogue. It had a good mixture of mystery, murder, and sex which kept one riveted to the pages, wondering what was coming next. The storyline led one in several directions, keeping the reader guessing the ending until the last few chapters. The main character of Jake was very believable. One could see that there was a vast amount of background and knowledge behind him and the author. Jake's escapades, reasoning, and deductions were like a web of mystique being unraveled. This is the third in a series of Jake and his assignments and adventures. I hope to eventually have the chance to read the first two books and look forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: Sentinel Event -- The Proverbial Page-Turning Thriller! Review: I read this whole book on a cross-country airplane ride -- I could not put it down! Sentinel event pulls you in to the action and thrills right from the prologue. Seletz's writing is rich with vivid detail, dialogue, and medical intrigue. I was pulled into the plot working vicariously with Dr. Jake Stein to solve a string of murders and cover-ups in rural North Carolina. A "must-read" fictional thriller for anyone working in the hospital environment or in the medical field. I look forward to the opportunity to read the other books in the Sentinel Event series, as well as the Pass in Review quartet.

Rating: Summary: A gripping page-turner Review: I started this book with some trepidation, since (in the spirit of full disclosure) I have known the author in his other careers as a surgeon and Joint Comission surveyor. I couldn't imagine the premise holding my attention--but I was certainly wrong. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the whodunit; and I especially enjoyed Seletz' craft of describing the politics of the modern hospital and his gift for dialogue. I found this a thoroughly enjoyable read--and I look forward to his next book.
