Rating: Summary: Saigon Landing Review: I enjoyed reading this book very much! It made me want to keep reading, and not put it down. Easy reading, with a great Woman main character Katie O'Brien, I just loved her. I enjoyed her strong character, who could handle her professional and family life so well. The relationship between her and her husband was really good, and kept me woundering. Blue Dibbs' character was written very well, and kept me thinking, days after I finished the book. I liked reading this book more than Grisham's last two novels. This book would make a good movie... .
Rating: Summary: A real legal thriller from a real lawyer Review: In Saigon Landing Jim Accardi has created a legal masterpiece. The attention to detail and precise use of legal terminology stand out. It is easy to see that this book was written by someone has has been intricately involved in the legal world for years. This legal thirller has a real world flavor uncommon to most works of this genre. More striking than Accardi's in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system is the wonderful way in which he develops each and every character in the book. Accardi masterfully accomplishes this onerous task in a manner that enhances the story without slowing the pace. The reader can almost put themselves in the shoes of each character, even the villians. The story itself is intense, exciting and full of unseen twists and turns. The ending is truly amazing. Alabamians will certainly appreciate the poetic way in which Accardi describes the setting. You'll find yourself longing for those cool Alabama Autumn evenings.

Rating: Summary: The Thinking Man's John Grisham Review: Jim Accardi's novel Saigon Landing is an intricate, tightly woven yarn of murder, mystery and intrigue set in North Alabama. Accardi does a brilliant job in offering the reader a wide assortment of characters from motley construction equipment thieves to hard-nosed but thoughtful attorneys. However, from just reading the book's first paragraph, one realizes that Accardi is not just trying to spin an everyday lawyer's tale. His description of the setting mooon and rising sun is simply magnificent. His book has it all: great characters, a plot full of unexpected twists and turns, and deep characterizations rarely found in novels of this genre. A must read-for the beach-or anywhere else.
Rating: Summary: Well Done Review: Not since the city of Los Angeles prosecuted a former football star turned actor had a murder conviction looked so right. Stands accused is John Gary. Everyone thinks he did it; even Gary is not quite sure. Defense attorney Katie O'Brien is assigned by the judge to defend Mr. Gary. She thinks he might be innocent. Enter the mysterious Ferris Gordon, a once disbarred now reinstated lawyer. He offers Katie his help. And we smell plot. Twenty-five year prosecuting attorney turned writer Jim Accardi (I was five when he began practicing) has written an excellent legal thriller. Cliché alert: He's forgotten more about law than I'll ever know. I won't liken his writing to another, as so often reviewers do, but I will admit that I thought of my long time fav Erle Stanley and his Perry Mason a few times. Good plotting and characterization. Of particular interest is biker attorney Ferris Gordon. To be expected, Jim's story is technically accurate; hence, believable. Highly recommended. Cammy Diaz A@L
Rating: Summary: "Saigon Landing" Review: Welcome to the new South where the good `ole boy mafia --- a dying breed --- still calls the shots. At least until lawyer Katie O'Brien comes along. "Saigon Landing" is a captivating legal thriller set in the fictional town of Richfield, Alabama. Giving an accurate portrayal of the sinister side of the gentile South, the author captures the motivations and psychology of these varied characters and gives us a fast-paced, action-packed plot. Just when you think you've got it figured out, the ending takes an explosive twist. Noble Katie O'Brien is a grown-up Scout Finch. A perfect book to take to the beach!
