It does a good job of not being too basic for someone who has studied criminal justice, and not to inaccesable or pretentious for the casual reader. Lots of case histories from the San Francisco Bay area.

Some of the content dives into rather basic crime factoids, but for the most part a great book that may get you interested in studying criminal justice full time.
