Summary: old world charm
Review: Lucretia Grindle will eventually be numbered among the most popular British mystery writers of a certain period. Her works evoke the mood and old world settings,that are reminiscent of the works of Ngaio Marsh, or even of Agatha Christie, yet are in a modern setting. Her wonderful Inspector Ross is akin to none other than Marsh's Roderick Allen. The main character's own emotional involvement in the crime seems unique however, and truly draws the reader into the story, as few mysteries manage to do. A very entertaining story!
