Summary: Total disappointment
Review: After reading the glowing reviews of this book, I was curious enough to buy it. Don't! It is riddled with cliches, cardboard characters, and a worn plot. Think of a teenage boy's daydreams, then let him write them down, and this is what you get. It's sad to think of all the great writing by emerging writers, and this is what gets published. Ugh!

Summary: Brother in law?
Review: As a lawyer myself, I find this novel underwhelming. I was dumbfounded as to how this book could reach the public with so many proofreading mistakes--- major, consistent mistakes in grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, etc. I did some looking, and I realized that this book is evidently from a vanity press. Does Amazon sell a good many of these types of books? How do they get into circulation nationally? Read Grissom or Turow if want good law novels. Leave this one to the relatives and neighbors.

Summary: A pretty good read but hardly perfect
Review: Don Medley's "The Book of Luke" is a well thought-out murder mystery about a Mississippi attorney unjustly accused of murdering a beautiful young woman. Small town southern intrigue abounds in this thriller that is very gripping at times but towards the end becomes a bit contrived and not quite believable. I wish Amazon allowed 1/2 star ratings as I would then give this 3 1/2 stars but it is just not up to a 4 star rating in my opinion. Still, I recommend it as a good summer read.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: Knowing Don Medley as a personal friend, I experienced initial difficulty getting into the book at first. I kept thinking, "Who is he referring to?" and "I can't believe he can write like this." But since the book sucked me in, I haven't been able to put it down. Definitely worth a read.
