Rating: Summary: Murder in the Home Market Review: I read this book because, like many of you, I've been totally freaked-out and disgusted by the outrageous prices of residential homes around the San Francisco Bay Area. And Palo Alto, where it's set, is one of the worst locations, price-wise, anyone can find! So now that I've gotten the rant out, let me say it's a kick to see the subject come up in mystery fiction. Sweet Deal is a whodunit, revolving around the possible murder of a sweet little old lady who happens to own a nice lot in the red-hot real estate market of Palo Alto. Yes, it's violent in spurts, as tales of this nature are bound to be, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the tour of the Palo Alto real estate market as seen from the eyes of a homeowner/detective. I liked the lead character(s), and also the local color that pops up as the action moves up and down the peninsula. It's a good thing Trucker Deal and Kim Lockwood are tenacious as well as lovers, because this one has a pile of suspects, some of whom are eager to fight back. I think it's a fun read and it certainly held my interest.
