Lindsay, an animator of children's films, gets involved in a murder investigation when the director of her producer-husband's latest film turns up dead. Lindsay's snooping into the private lives of the Hollywood elite provides plenty of grist for Freers's mill as she skillfully skewers the lifestyles of the rich and fatuous who populate her novel. As mysteries go, The Dead Celeb is strictly lightweight, but as Hollywood satire, it's top of the heap.
