Summary: from a former bostonian
Review: I picked this book up because I'm a transplanted bostonian who loves mysteries, especially if they're set in boston and their 'heroes' are women....I'm afraid I was disappointed in this one...when I came to an historical inaccuracy - the sumner tunnel existed long before the callahan - I quickly lost interest, since one of my reasons for reading bostonian mysteries is to take a trip down memory lane. I skimmed the rest of the book and wasn't much impressed by the writing...I'm hoping that ms lee's writing has been improving and her later books are better....

Review: I really enjoyed the Angela Matelli character. She's got a lot of depth. Strong and independent without being overly assertive and cranky. She's a tough yet feminine private eye just starting out in the business and is still learning the ropes. And I absolutely love the fact that she used to be a marine, but isn't at all butch. Her relatives might be irritating, but they have their redeeming qualities. The Boston setting is very interesting and filled with the international flavors of Ireland and Italy. The mystery storyline was a tiny bit on the slow side for my taste, but I was so interested in the characters that I raced through the book anyway. I look forward to reading more about Angela Matelli!
