Review: I just finished Railsback's book and highly recommend it. I really would not be surprised at all if this novel is a bestseller this year! We take our National Parks for granted, but not everybody does, especially Eldred Spell.

Review: It is a killer-diller thriller and it charmed me in the way books I read as a youngster charmed me-with untamed wildness and an overpowering presence for a 'villain.'" It charmed me out of myself each time I picked it up . . . it has enough action, sex, and vista to fill a Technicolor screen to over-brimming. In short, it's a helluva ride. I enjoyed it immensely.

Review: The Darkest Clearing by Brain Railsback is a superbly crafted novel of determination, frustration, and obsession. Eldred Spell is a man affected by the tragedy of his sister's unexpected and unusual death. Eldred dedicates himself to restoring the natural splendor of Yosemite Valley, which has been overrun by tourists. His efforts to do so turn more and more violent with each failure. Eli is a married female security ranger who must find and catch Eldred, despite her own love of the wilds and her sympathy for his ultimate motivation. The Darkest Clearing is dark, dramatic, entertaining, and highly recommended for community library fiction shelves.
