Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Interesting Story with No Twist
Review: I'm a fan of Shizuko Natsuki and have collected all her long novels.

Portal of the Wind is different to the others such as the Third Lady and Innocent Journey. The author could still describe the emotions of the female characters in great detail like the love between the father and daughter (Tsuneyo). However, the murder case in this story was not the major theme. It was just used to bring it out: the exchange of body parts. The reader can easily spot it half way through the book.

The author did not vote for nor against this kind of operation but just left it to the readers to decide. There was no twist in the end like it was in the Third Lady that gave readers surprises.

Summary: Plot...
Review: It begins with a murder that seems never to have happened...

A famous Japanese artist is hacked to death by a rejected apprentice.

A young man dies in a traffic accident that may or may not have been suicide.

A young woman sees a photograph in a magazine and is powerfully drawn to a man she has never met.

A daughter mourning her father's death begins to suspect a tragedy she cannot name.

Behind these baffling facts lies an enigma so profound that even the police dare not pursue it. It is a secret so enormous that it could change the future of humankind.

A masterpiece of mystery and suspense.
