Rating: Summary: Self-serving, but a good story Review: I enjoyed the story, although some things really bothered me. As another stated, Adele is SO perfect, or seems to be if you ignore her extreme rudeness and just plain nastiness to her nosey, but elderly neighbor. Guess you have to be a patient to see her wonderful, caring nature. Also, her frequent "Christ on a bike" expression is unnecessary and offended me.
Rating: Summary: The Reality is...nursings not that bad! Review: I have read Ms. Heron's books over the years and have enjoyed many. However, I tire of the constant portrayal of nursing as a powerless, whining group of co-dependant ninnies. This novel only supports these beliefs. I have been a nurse for 15 years and now practice as a nurse practitioner in San Francisco...and I love what I do. It's time to portray non-bitter nurses effecting change as needed, which I assure you is entirely possible. Also, I noted homophobia in Ms. Heron's book MERCY and was bothered. I chose to purchase another "Mystery" by this author and was again struck by the overt and covert homophobic remarks. I am quite surprised given Ms. Heron's listed place of residence. I must say that I need to do some thinking before I purchase another selection by this author.

Rating: Summary: Like the series - this one's okay Review: I really enjoy the Adele books and I find the perspective of Nelson a lot of fun. However, as a nurse, I can tell you that we can't afford to get as involved with our patients as Adele does. She really steps over the line at times (as you will see when you read this book.) And by the way, never feed a dog onions. They can cause gastrointestinal bleeding in dogs which is why I'm glad that Nelson had fictional onion pancakes.
Rating: Summary: Self-serving, but a good story Review: Interesting and likeable characters (especially Nelson the dog), and consistent, even writing make this an easy and fast read. The plot itself was a little thin in places but the surprising resolution pulled it all together.
Rating: Summary: The Best of The Adele Monserrat Series Review: Ms. Heron's new mystery is worthy of being placed in the pantheon of the very best mystery writers. Adele Monserrat is even further developed as a character in this, her lastest edition in the series. And Ms. Heron does something I really like. She refers back to thoughts, ideas, and events that happened in previous books. You won't be mystified if you didn't read the previous books, but you will be pleasantly surprised that the writer respects her readers' memories.I laughed out loud at her swipes at managed, oops, mangled care. A very good read. I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: Super medical mystery ! Review: This latest Adele Monsarrat mystery is the best in the series! Very well-done character development and plot! The reader will not be disappointed.
