Rating: Summary: STOMP! is a winner! Review: A fabulous coming-of-age novel, not without the usual teenage angst - but definitely without the usual solutions. Ray & Angie are wonderful characters exploring not only their sexuality, but at the same time exploring the existentialist philosophy. Ray is a bright, sensitive young man and this novel shows his transformation from boyhood to manhood brilliantly. If you're looking for something to read that pushes the envelope a bit, that leaves you thinking about it for days and days, then STOMP! is a book you need to read.

Rating: Summary: R.G. per.1 Stomp, while you can Review: Author Nicholas van Pelt's existentialist romp through Ray "Skeeter" Hawkins' circle of life is a must-read for anyone whose high school memories are cluttered with loneliness and angst. The summer of '57 is giving way to fall in Umatilla, Oregon, when the gorgeous Angie Boudreau and her considerable baggage blow into town, transforming Skeets' life in ways he never could have imagined. Skeets is something of a loner, thanks in no small part to his being a late bloomer. While his sexual encounters are many in number, his only partner to date has been himself -- unless you count the pinups on the pages of his girlie mags. His two greatest attributes as an Umatilla High athlete are that he's small and slow. Despite this less-than-glowing resume, Skeets gets the girl -- and much more than he bargained for when Billy Karady, the conflicted star running back of the undefeated Umatilla Vikings, can't control his jealousy. What ensues is a vicious cycle of events that seems somehow more suited to the hellbent '90s than the idyllic '50s. Van Pelt's novel is one of people haunted by their realities and the choices they've made -- the very same choices that make life worth living. Check it out.
Rating: Summary: R.G. per.1 Stomp, while you can Review: I enjoyed the book "Stomp", by Nicholas Van Pelt. The main character Ray Hawkins was full of life and quite adventorous. At first he was just a lonely, depressed teenager working at a drug store. Then, when Angie came to Umatilla, his life took a sudden turn. Not only wasn't life boring, he also became more popular at school. Once he was even the quarterback of the football team. One thing I found interesting was how most of the book was told in flashback. Billy Karady, the antogonist, was described wonderfully. During the climax I could see the characters in my mind.Stomp really showed a teenager's emotions and thoughts. This is a good book to read because not only does it tell a story, it also gives famous quotes from famous authors. The end is different then I expected. Others might think it fits the book though.I read this book in one weekend. For some reason I just couldn't put it down. It was a little hard to understand at first, but then I caught on quickly.Hopefully you have the chance to read it also.
