Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Hard boiled Private eye set in Sydney; first in great series
Review: For fans of Chandler and Hammett, here is a contemporary writer who is a worthy follower. "The Dying Trade" is the first in a 20+ series featuring Sydney, Australia, private detective Cliff Hardy, who observes the wealthy and the underworld with humourous.

All of the series entries are very good; this first is excellent.

Although you can certainly love the book without knowing Sydney, those who have been will enjoy Corris' excellent sense of place. I like mysteries as, among other things, a substitute for travel, and this one will bring you down under.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fast, lean, no cheap plot devices.
Review: Great collection. The nice thing about Corris is he uses hisspare style with aplomb. The details are used to just the rightaffect. His series isn't much on violence either. Often he's just looking for missing persons and not tripping over corpses.
