Rating: Summary: A disappointment Review: Based on previous reviews, I eagerly anticipated reading this book. I was extremely disappointed. While the premise is a good one, details are generally skimmed over (e.g. exactly HOW did our heroine get herself untied and out of the bag in which she was confined in the nick of time?)and the sub-plot is full of improbable coincidences. I would not recommend anyone's purchasing this. If you must read it, check it out at the library.
Rating: Summary: One False Move - A great Read! Review: I could not put this book down. The characters were a fascinating group, and you could just feel the suspense building as the story unfolds. Ms. Sauter has a real gift for developing a story with plenty of detail, beautifully written, but with a pace fast enough to keep your interest. This book is a great summer read. I can't wait for the next book - Mary Higgins Clark, watch out!
Rating: Summary: One False Move Review: I loved this book. It was well paced with many surprises and clevor connections. I loved the protagonist who displayed fair emotions, but also commendable courage in finding her way to the ending. I loved the sarcastic banter and caustic views. Ms Sauter has the same wit and grit as Grafton. I found the book hard to put down. The ending was delicious. The heartbreaks were personally written and felt real. And I can't wait for this story to find its way onto the screen. A good yarn with a strong heroine.
Rating: Summary: Top Notch Thriller Review: I received this book from a friend who gave up on it. I should have trusted her judgment. I hate to write a bad review of a book which someone has spent a lot of time and energy on but because I found this book so frustrating, I decided to do so. For some reason Ms. Sauter couldn't keep her train of thought and the plot going in the same direction. It was like someone with ADD. She jumped from place to place and all of a sudden in the middle of the book she introduced a new concept which made absolutely no sense to the story line. Amazon has a lot of terrific books to offer serious readers, my recommendation is you try some others. There will be no movie from this one.

Rating: Summary: Sauter Hits a Home Run!! Review: I'm not normally a detective-fiction fan, but I liked this a lot. Our heroine is well carved out; and she and protagonists are well described. I even laughed out loud at one well-wrought scene in a police interrogation room. Look for the well-researched details about chemistry, cops, New York and even opera. Stacey has done her homework, and it is appreciated. When this becomes a movie, I see a younger Jodie Foster playing our tyro detective/cop. Tom Cruise would be the too-smooth bad guy (but perhaps only because it would be good to see what happens to the bad guy happen to Cruise). In a formulaic bow to political correctness, the evil accomplice is a smoker, but I can forgive that. We know there's going to be a happy ending, but the reader is kept on the edge his seat. This novel is better then Stacey's first, and I'm looking forward to the next.
Rating: Summary: page turner Review: Once I started reading "One False Move", I did nothing else until finished! The characters were so true and believably because they were human - the author let them make mistakes - imagine that? The story was fascinating and unpredictable - I was on the edge of my seat most of the time. I look forward to the next books from Stacey featuring Carla and Liz and their new challenges and mysteries. And I do hope to see this book on the silver screen too.
Rating: Summary: STARTS OFF WITH A BANG Review: ONE FALSE MOVE starts off with a bang! Wow, I was hooked from the start. Malcolm Rutland III has just married 26-year-old Candace. The reception was being held at the Waldorf Astoria, and the bride and groom had the Presidential Suite for the night. The couple had decided to go up to their suite to change into something comfortable for the reception. When they got to the room, Malcolm decided to take a shower. While her bridegroom is showering, Candace hears a noise. When she turns around, she sees a man, but it is to late for her to scream. The knife comes down across her throat deeply, severing her vocal cords, and her perfect day comes to a lethal end. A day later Mitchell and Sydney Cunningham, who had attended the wedding and reception of Malcolm and Candace, were the next victims. Sydney was the first to be killed in their Park Ave. apartment, as she was about to leave for a tennis game. Her neck was cut clear to the spine. She was found by her husband, who knows what the murders are all about. He tries to run, but before he can get away, he is murdered in the same fashion as his wife. The author's description of the murders are so chilling that you can all most envision it in your mind's eye. The commander of Manhattan South, Jack Jennings Sr., and the Chief of New York City's Homicide Division, Liz Phillips, take charge of the cases, since they arehigh profile. Liz feels that, after the last two murders, they must get someone to go under cover, since the suspected murderer is very affluent and powerful and well connected. When Liz tells Jack that it should be his daughter, Carla, Jack hits the ceiling. He argues that Carla is not ready yet, even though she is a top cadet in the academy. She is not experienced enough for such a big case. Carla overrules her father and decides that she will go undercover for the Department. Before she can go under cover she must completely metamorphose herself into someone different. Carla becomes Charlotte Desmond, who is classically tailored, well educated and a well-bred young woman with a taste for the Tiffany style. Even though her life depends on it, can Carla pull it off? Ms. Sauter sure did her homework when she wrote this book; the details on chemistry and the opera were factual. The heroine, Carla, fits into her role as a rich socialite like hand in a tailored glove. The writing is very explicit and electrifying enough, with many twists and turns, to keep you hanging on to every word, right up to the scandalous end. I was really sorry when this book ended; it was such an illustrious read.
Rating: Summary: Sauter Hits a Home Run!! Review: This provocative and compelling novel absolutely transcends the standard fare dished out by so many suspense writers today. The characters and their dialogue are well-crafted and credible, but not predictable. There are hairpin turns and ironic twists aplenty in this book, all of which kept me up until 2:00 a.m -- I simply couldn't put it down. Sauter's characters are so real and your involvement with them becomes so intense, you simply don't want the book to end. She has hit a winner with One False Move. I loved it, and I'm really looking forward to her next!
