Summary: He and the book is awesome!!!
Review: I met this guy at a book signing in Charleston. And his personality stands out as well as his book, too. " The Color her Dead " is a very interesting, fiction-mystery book that leads you to ,one of the Southeast's tourist spots, Myrtle Beach. This book explains that Myrtle Beach does have " History " and in it, it has some mysteries that the readers as well as residents living at the " beach " don't know. And Steve Brown tells you all about the mysteries that is hidden in his books. If you have " spare " time you have to read this book, it's awesome!!! so awesome, you have to read to see for yourself!

Summary: GREAT FOR GEN-XERS!
Review: THIS BOOK REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION JUST BECAUSE I'M A NATIVE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. BUT ONCE I STARTED READING IT, I REALLY COULDN'T, AND DIDN'T WANT TO PUT IT DOWN. THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR THE MYSTERY LOVER WHO GETS BORED WITH THOSE OLD FASHIONED AGATHA CHRISTIE STYLE NOVELS. SUSAN CHASE IS THE GEN-X HERCULE POIROT WITH AN EXTREME EDGE. IT'S GREAT TO SEE HOW A MALE WRITER CAN REALLY FIND THE ESSENCE OF A YOUNG WOMAN AND PORTRAY HER IN A WAY WHERE SHE'S NOT THE DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. INSTEAD, AFTER QUESTIONING A MAN, HE'S LOOKING FOR HELP HIMSELF. I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANY YOUNG WOMAN WHO IS INDEPENDENT AND DOESN'T TAKE CRAP FROM ANYBODY. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FUN AND LIGHT TO READ THAT WILL REALLY TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER PLACE AND TIME, THIS IS DEFINITLY THE BOOK FOR YOU!

Summary: Horrid
Review: Undoubtedly the worst mystery book I've read. I wouldn't dare to continue with the series. The writing style was simplistic at best. A thesaurus would really help the author out. If Susan Chase is indicitive of my generation...then I want out. From the first sentence, the storyline is almost unbearable and the amateurish writing reminds me of a sixth-graders attempt at suspense. Adjectives might have helped a little...as would a 'flow' in the story. The author jumps around and the outcome is a broken storyline. Perhaps, with future attempts, the author's style will improve, but Susan Chase is a flat, undynamic character who doesn't express emotion or color. If she were a real woman, I wouldn't want to sit next to her...let alone have a conversation with her. Her "Attitude" is more of an annoyance...and really hinders the book. Overall, she's an unlikeable character. If you want 'attitude' in a female main character...I suggest you read Sue Grafton's alphabet series or Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Now THOSE are strong, funny women with attitude.

Summary: fun, light, quick who-done-it
Review: What an enjoyable book! I live in the Charleston area, and this author definitely has the lowcountry pegged. At times Myrtle Beach is swarming with teenagers and young adults and this mystery is SO interesting that it's hard to put the book down because the action is never held up with overly descriptive, boring paragraphs. Chase, the PI who lives at the marina, is so believably real as well as the storyline is. The lowcountry "aristocrat" O'Keys family is so interesting. I liked the book a lot and the flow of the story made this a quick page turning read. Jenny's overbearing mother is a piece of work. This one will keep you reading til you're through so don't plan on getting anything else done once you start this book:-}
