Summary: Characters that linger in my mind
Review: Like many of her published poems, this novel depicts quirky characters and contains both humor and pathos that sideswipe the reader at the end of a sentence. Some passages prompted me to laugh out loud. But what lingers most for me is the weighty grief of the quiet widow in contrast to the hapless blather of those who try to comfort her while feeling so awkward about it. Sometimes I had to remind myself to breathe, as I absorbed the well told emotional tension.
