Rating: Summary: A lovely book, a great plot Review: After reading the first two novels by Teri Holbrook, I was really looking forward to her third book. I found that The Grass Widow was a great sequel to A Far and Deadly Cry in that the characters of Gale Grayson and her daughter Katie Pru were further developed in a wonderful way. In Sad Water however, to my surprise and disappointment, I felt that the characters of Gale and Katie Pru were rather flat, none of the other characters became really convincing and the relationship between Halford and Gale, which was kept suspended in The Grass Widow, lost all its former tension. The tale itself was clever and the plot intricate, a little too much so for my taste. Michael's Diary provided the story with local colour, but as a focus for the plot it fell flat. All in all, of course, Teri Holbrook is a good storyteller and she kept me reading, but when I had finished the last page, I just thought ' hmm, well ...'.
Rating: Summary: I had to give up Review: I'm an avid mystery reader, and had read the two previous books in this series, but this one stopped me cold--and I can't remember the last time I left a book unfinished. I got halfway through, and realized there was just no point in finishing. I didn't care who had done whatever it was that was done (still unclear halfway through), and I had had enough of the characters' quirks and strange behavior. The first book in this series (which I read second) was a well-plotted mystery. The second was a little more oblique, but still absorbing. This one was downright annoying.
Rating: Summary: I had to give up Review: In her third novel, Teri Holbrook has again written a gripping suspense novel. The characters are offbeat and the storyline is intense. I couldn't put it down until I reached the ending. I highly recommend this novel to anyone, especially Minette Walters fans.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding! Review: In her third novel, Teri Holbrook has again written a gripping suspense novel. The characters are offbeat and the storyline is intense. I couldn't put it down until I reached the ending. I highly recommend this novel to anyone, especially Minette Walters fans.
Rating: Summary: Another masterpiece from Teri Holbrook Review: Sad Water, like Holbrook's previous two novels, carries the profound theme through flowing, lyrical prose and uncanny insight into the minds of extraordinary characters. The story engulfs the perceptive reader, and the haunting denouement lingers long after the final page. Teri Holbrook may well be the most gifted writer of our time.
