Summary: better than i expected, but not as good as i thought.
Review: I must recommened this book to my fellow Amazonian book lovers out there reading my humble review. I wish to offer not only an opinion on the merits of this book, but a suggestion that you plunk down some dough and buy a copy for the house. Sure, you can get books at the library, even this one... but you will have to take it back eventaully, if you buy it here you can read it on an annual basis which is what i recommened in this case.

read this one once a year to capture the real meaning of the story the lies hidden behind the well-crafted plotline. I have read this one seven times now and I am only just now beginning to understand the third chapter. _really_ understand it.

Summary: A Real Story Teller for Today
Review: The Grey Ghost is a novel I read with great interest and pleasure. It is one of those books that you don't want to put down. Loved the characters and the setting, and all the adventure the young heroes find themselves tangled up in. They take you right along with them, and what a ride it is. Cally, Bud and Isaac are wonderful, you feel as if you know them. I am a retired teacher and I find this novel to be a great offering for middle-schoolers and up. Could be used on school novel lists. Can't wait for the next book from this new author.

Summary: "Real" Excitement
Review: This book is wonderful reading for people of every age. It is "real" excitement because it is about real life happenings and perceptions. The characters that Colleen Affeld uses in her book are very likeable and people with whom the reader can identify. The author writes about an area of the country that she knows which also lends validity to the story. Cally and her brother, Bud, lived in a time when children could be children; however, circumstances in and around where they lived made them see life differently very quickly. The message in this book is great! Our preconceived ideas about others often change when we get to know those folks better. Cally and her friends were fearful of Isaac, a black man who lived nearby but that soon changed to love and intense concern when they thought he had been killed. I had to chuckle at Cally's language and descriptions. She stayed so "in character' throughout the book. This is a book well worth reading!! Enjoy!
