Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great canine mystery
Review: Gordon Christie is a vet fresh out of school. He has taken a temporary job(maybe leading to a permanent one) filling in for a vet, Dr. Potter at his clinic in Vail. He heads out saddled with a cockatoo, a salamander, and alot of houseplants belonging to one of Dr. Potter's clients. He is run off the road by a young man in a black sports car with a black Doberman beside him. After repairing the bird's claw and finding the salamander, he finally gets to Vail to an emergency. A dog is guarding a dead body and the police can't get in the apartment. Christie rushes to the scene and finds that the body belongs to the young man who ran him off the road, and of course the dog is the one that was beside him in the car.

This was an excellent mystery. I had a suspicion of the murderer's identity, but wasn't sure until the end. There is plenty of action and the author added alot of veterinary details. This is a thoroughly good read.
