Summary: An excellent first novel
Review: This book absolutely surprised me. It is like reading three or four books in one. In the beginning Nicolas writes about the characters as children. The story is told in such a way that you can actually feel the emotions of the characters. As the book progresses, many new characters are introduced. Some are sinister, but most are charming. At one point in the story there is a very touching romance that honestly brought tears to my eyes. It truly shows the sensitivity of the author. I don't think that anyone who reads this book will be disappointed.
