Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A Northwest Mystery
Review: Janet L Smith only seems to have written three novels. (There may be others, but I haven't seen them.) This is the first in the series.

The protagonist is a young lawyer from Seattle, and it is set in the lovely San Juan Islands. The book is competent, but not especially polished.

More jarring, however, is that the author seems to have had different ideas of where to take the character in each of the other two books. In some ways, it is almost like reading about three different women with the same name.

The other two books are "Practice To Deceive" and "A Vintage Murder".

These books have a lot in common with the Nevada Barr "Anna Pigeon" novels.
