Rating: Summary: Riveting; sexy; at times spacy; and is a general good time Review: Bob Haller has had quite a varied career: Madison Avenue for 30 years; a former college professor; and a career in the U.S. Army Reserve, specializing in Special Operations. His first novel was entitled Stinger Missile Conspiracy.Charlie Nielson is a pseudo-scientist who has tinkered most of his life. When he stumbles on the lost secret of Zero-Point Energy, an energy source used by the ancients, his life is abruptly terminated. But Charlie was ready for this contingency. He uploads his files on the Internet and sounds to alarm via e-mail in special code to the Sacred Council of Seven, a very special group of people who shared Charlie's quest for free energy. But there are several groups who have sworn to thwart to Sacred Council of Seven and to steal Charlie's secrets: "Gordy strode across the room, and slid into his large red leather executive chair. He opened a file folder marked Top Secret, lying on his massive polished mahogany desk, and motioned Slattery to sit. 'I have two missions for you. That's why I brought you in so quickly. That crazy inventor sandbagged us! He dumped everything he knew about Zero-Point Energy onto the Internet. We're trying to track down all of his associates, but it will take time. Some are located in this country. Others are overseas.'" The Coiled Serpent isn't so much of a mystery as it is an action/adventure tale with distinct New Age leanings. Most of the story takes place in Egypt, and Mr. Haller is well versed in the tourist trade in Egypt, having been on a tour in Queen Hatshepsut's Temple in Luxor in 1997 when 62 tourists were killed. His heroine and hero, Spriggy and Jake, search for a monk who can help them unlock the secrets of Zero-Point Energy and get more than they bargained for. Characters are well defined and larger than life. Bob Haller employs his unique combination of talents to make The Coiled Serpent an unusual thriller based on ancient knowledge which predates the great floods of Noah; the teachings of the Old Testament; and accepted theories of Egyptology which are changing as more discoveries are made. The Coiled Serpent is riveting; sexy; at times spacy; and is a general good time. It is a military, action, religious, New Age struggle with evil forces. Shelley Glodowski, Reviewer
