Rating: Summary: HIGHLY INSIGHTFUL Review: I found Silent Justice to be well researched, well written and enlightening. The book has several dimensions. While illuminating a national problem in our school systems, the book also probes the human predicament - that we all have flaws. The real "Silent Justice" that runs through every page of Scottie's book is that everyone is their own punishment!
Rating: Summary: Where's the truth Review: I see Scotie is up to her old tricks of writting again. As in her first book the Cheater she did not check out her facts, there is more to writting a good book than just reading the trial transcripst and the news articles. Scottie did you interview the "family members" I would say not, just like you didn't do in the Cheater. I incourge all serioues readers to not buy this womans books, anyone can read news clippings and write a so called book. I can't beleve someone would publish this.
Rating: Summary: Scottie has done a remarkable job. Review: In her first novel, Scottie Priesmeyer takes us on a shocking trip through hometown America. The topic is timely, and enraging; sexual abuse on high school students by their teachers. She highlights the trust and naivete of unsuspecting teachers Presenting how easily a unscrupulous and manipulative teacher Can get away with Repeatedly victimizing young girls. After living through the assault with the main character Beth, we are then subject to live through the trial with her as well. The trial being intense, And spine-tingling you'll be on the edge of your seat as Scottie builds a highly explosive ending. Scottie has done vast research on her subject matter and she states that This is not a rare occurrence or a freak incident. Rather her research points to the fact that this type of sexual abuse happens in about 1 in 4 U.S. high schools. As is unforgivably a normal reaction to violence against women one of silence and denial teachers, educators, administration officials and often students and victims are reluctant to admit it let alone discuss the fact. The characters in the work are believable and well developed, This is sometimes not the case at all when an author switches from non-fiction to fiction. Scottie has done a remarkable job. Rating: Summary: suspenseful - thrilling Review: This book goes beyond the headlines, and that is what kept it in my hands from start to finish. From the ex-boyfriend, the best friend and the parents of the girl abused... to the prosecuting attorney and the wife of the abuser... everyone has secrets or regrets that keeps the wheels in motion. With ease, the author fills us in on the small-town personae and if you think you know what's going to happen next, you're probably wrong. Each character could easily be the ex-boyfriend, teacher, student, attorney, person-next-door.
Rating: Summary: HIGHLY INSIGHTFUL Review: This topic is a sensitive subject but one that needed to be told. It was well researched and sensitively approached. It is both inspiring and fact-filled. I would recommend it to teachers, youth leaders and anyone who cares about kids.
