Rating: Summary: incomplete, poorly organized, incorrect information Review: A directory like this may be a good idea, but this one misses out because by the time it is in print many of the bookstores have changed addresses or are no longer in business. Many speciality mystery bookstores are not listed. The same information can be found on the internet in Yellow Pages which is current. Stores aren't listed geographically. Much of the information in this book can be found on mystery websites. It does list awards and conferences, but this data can be found on most author's websites or mystery websites.
Rating: Summary: incomplete, inaccurate directory, poorly organized Review: By the time the book was published, many listings were out of date and out of business. The directory for bookstores is woefully inadequate and should be done geographically instead of alphabetically. Current information can be more easily found on the internet in yellow pages, or on mystery web pages.
Rating: Summary: Useful reference for publishers Review: My copy of the Deadly Directory is well worn, having been used countless times in my job as a book publicist. The section on reviewers is wonderfully helpful, giving you new contact names of freelancers that you may not reach by just sending to a newspaper. As with any directory though, it is important to follow up and confirm addresses before sending; many contact names and addresses chnge on a regular basis. Overall, highly useful and recommended resource.

Rating: Summary: The Indispensable Guide to All Things Mystery Review: No matter if you're a publisher of mysteries, a fan of mysteries, a peddler of mysteries, or an author of mysteries (or for that matter any combination of the above), The Deadly Directory should always be well within arm's reach. Highly recommended and heartily endorsed.
Rating: Summary: incomplete, poorly organized, incorrect information Review: This is the only directory of all booksellers, organizations, products, web sites, email discussion lists, and publications related to mysteries. If you love mysteries you will love the Deadly Directory. It also has the most comprehensive index in the world. Excellent for locating reading groups, mystery bookstores, people you met a the last convention, author newsletters, hard to find books, mystery tours and weekends, museums, Raymond Chandler's letters. Anything that exists related to mystery fiction can be found with the Deadly Directory.
