Summary: COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!
Review: A fast and meaty read, with a light touch to a serious subject - about which I thought I knew everything and discovered I knew only its surface. We're always talking about what we leave to our children, but what of the biased social histories that we pass on to them as 'truth'? This book sets straight at least part of the social record of the not too distant past and it should be in every library in the country

Summary: About the infamous TV blacklist
Review: Set in 1950's America, The Dead File is a novel by Kevin O'Morrison about the infamous TV blacklist during the equally infamous era of Joe McCarthy and the congressional HUAC investigations, and how it permanently changed one actor's life. Insightful, sometimes sad, yet a powerfully charged saga of the struggle to find meaning and dictate one's own existence when the telephones stop ringing with offers and no one will tell you why -- The Dead File is highly recommended reading and as contemporary as the recently past "American Patriots" act of congress.

Summary: An Absolute Must Read!
Review: This is an articulate, occasionally humorous, accurate account of a little known side to the Black List. O'Morrison treats us to another well written work. I also recommend his plays, particularly "The Morgan Yard" and "Lady House Blues."
