Rating: Summary: On Indian Time Review:
Judi Blaze touched my heart as a reader with her well written novel. Her evocative use of language gripped my interest and I was unable to put the book down until I'd finished it. Martin and Billy were opposites coming from the same place; yet Blaze had me rooting for both of them, hoping against all odds that things would work out for both of them. Even when I knew that was unlikely.
Blaze creates a very real sense of place and time, so that the reader is there every minute with all of the characters. Perhaps that is the most wonderful thing about this novel -- it pulls you into the story, making you feel what the characters are feeling. I'm with Martin in his studio, with Billy on the Pine Ridge Reservation, with Molly and Kathy, the two women who love these men.
Blaze is a writer to watch because her writing makes us feel. I'm looking forward to her next book.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding First Novel!!! Review: I loved this touching novel by Judi Blaze. The depiction of the two brothers has great depth and insight. As someone who grew up in the 50's in the Pacific NW, this novel certainly brings back the memories of the injustices inflicted on the Native American people in our region and the discrimination they had to endure, so much so that they were encouraged and or forced to be everything "white". This is endearing story of a Native American family, their hardships, struggles and triumphs in the face of discrimination. A great read....can't wait to read it again....after it finishes making the rounds of family, neighbors and friends! You need to read this novel....you will be glad you did.

Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've Read in Years Review: I rarely describe books as "outstanding," but this book is moving, and a wonderful find. Judi Blaze's talents as a writer are obvious, and the fact that she wons awards with her book at a recent writer's conference underscores the merit of her work."On Indian Time" is a modern day "Dances with Wolves," only much better. The past and future rarely agree with each other, and rope that binds the two together are people struggling to stay true to themselves and their ancestry, yet survive in a modern world that is often unkind to Native Americans The story is sad, sometimes uplifting, and very spiritual, but most of all profound. It will make you think long after the story is over, and leave you with an enlightened heart, and a more compassionate perspective on western expansionism.
Rating: Summary: Poignant story that tears at the heart! Review: On Indian Time by Judi Blaze is a heart breaking yet beautiful story. The writer pulls you into the turbulent lives of the brothers making you feel as if you are traveling along side them on the journey that is their lives. The story was like riding an emotional roller coaster: happy and uphill at times and sad and troubling at others. Blaze is an excellent writer who through her art can suck you in and make you feel like you are living the story. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down! 5 STARS*****

Rating: Summary: hard lives in an unkind world Review: ON INDIAN TIME could have been depressing, however, Judi Blaze has balanced the stories of the brothers, & written a lean & emotional tale. Rebeccasreads recommends ON INDIAN TIME as an uncomplicated glimpse into the light & dark of living with anger in a world where you're not wanted...& making a place for yourself...or not! 3 stars because it needed more editing.
