Summary: The Rather Boring Eyes of Bast
Review: Let me explain, I love Sax Rohmer & his Fu Manchu stories, as well as several others I've had the good fortune to stumble on in used book shops. Reading Rohmer for me is like seeing a 1930's movie serial, a la "Indiana Jones" in it's modern incarnation. And with the recent successes of the "Mummy" movies I thought- what a great combination; Sax Rohmer and occult Egyptian murder mayhem & mystery! I was never so disappointed. This is a plodding boring tale that takes forever to pick up speed and by that time the reader has dozed off. The characters are wooden, the men are British 1920's prigs, the women are wispy at best. Pass the "Green Eyes of Bast" and go directly to Fu Manchu.
