But before she has a chance to talk to him and find out who the woman was and what she wanted, Bud is killed in a car accident. But when the police tell her that Bud's death was murder and that there is money missing from his company, she feels like her whole life has become a lie. And things get even worse when his partner begins to act very strange, even to the point of hitting his wife, Angie thinks that things can't get any worse, until she finds out that the mother of Bud's alleged daughter is one of her oldest and most trusted friends.

With the help of her best friend and a policeman who is in love with her, Angie sets out to get her life back, clear her husband's name and find his killer. Angie soon realizes that this could be a very dangerous decision, not just for her, but for her friends as well as they find themselves up against a killer who will stop at nothing to get what they want.

Angie Nevers is a remarkable character that you will enjoy very much. Summary: Another terrific book by Betty Sullivan LaPierre!
Review: As she celebrates her 25th anniversary with her husband, Angie Nevers has no idea that her happy, suburban life is about to change forever. But, in Betty Sullivan LaPierre's MURDER.COM, when she answers the door at the party and tells her husband, Bud, that a young woman named Melinda is waiting to see him, it does. Although Bud tells Angie that everything is fine, she senses a restlessness, a feeling of sadness in him that she can't explain to herself. Before she is able to ask Bud about it, he disappears. Terrified, Angie turns to Bud's long-time friend, Detective Tom Hoffman, for assistance. After Bud's burned out Porsche is found, the Detective comes to believe that Bud was murdered. As she sorts through the details of her husband's life, Angie realizes that there were so many things about Bud that she didn't know. She finds that everyone and everything look just a little different to her now. What's going on at the company that Bud and Ken Weber own, the company she thought was so successful? What was Bud so worried about? Why has Ken become so angry and abusive to his family? Is it possible that he was involved in Bud's murder? This idea would have been unthinkable to Angie, but now, her world is so changed that she has to consider it. And who is Melinda Smith? Is she involved? Angie knows that when she finds the answers to these questions, she'll know who killed Bud. But, there are so many threads leading in so many directions that Angie and Tom Hoffman both wonder if they'll ever solve Bud's murder.

Betty Sullivan LaPierre has done it again - MURDER.COM is a real winner! This is a fast paced mystery with lots of twists and turns. I was absolutely convinced that I knew who-dun-it at least twice - and I was wrong both times! The story is completely believable and full of suspense. LaPierre's characters are, as always, full of life and warmth. Angie Nevers has a quiet strength that keeps her going through the total upheaval in her life. This is not the type of woman who falls to pieces when things get tough - this is the type of woman who you'd like to have as a friend when things go wrong. I found myself caring for Angie and the other characters in the book right away. They're just so REAL that they just reach out and grab you from the first page. This book really has it all: great plot, great writing and great characters. Oh . . . one more thing. Leave yourself lots of time when you read this book - you probably won't want to put it down till you've read the very last word!

Summary: Good, Clean, Exciting Mystery
Review: Author Betty Sullivan LaPierre claims, "I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of plotting a good, clean, exciting story," and that's just what she does. Her characters are distinctly good or evil, totally involved in the plot. Engaging dialogue turns the pages of her novels, none more so than Murder.Com.

Bud and Angie Nevers have an idyllic life. They are madly in love with one another, live in a fabulous house on gated grounds due to the spectacular success of Bud's technology firm. A little crack in the gloss comes knocking on their front door one evening when they are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with special friends. A beautiful young blond woman is quickly hustled away, with Bud obviously agitated. A few days pass and Bud doesn't come home Saturday, after his golf game with his business partner. The ensuing hours are agony for Angie:

Sandy called a little after eleven. "Have you heard from him?" Angie gazed out the kitchen window into the darkness and wiped her hand across her forehead. "Not a word." "Did you two have a fight?" "No. I wish it were that simple." "Maybe you should call the police." Angie fiddled with a tea towel, rolling the fringed edge between her fingers. "I thought about calling Tom, but what can he do? Bud's only been gone for hours, not days." "Call him anyway, he'll understand. After all, this is out of character for Bud. That might mean something." She felt relieved that Sandy had suggested the very thing that had crossed her mind. "You're right. I'll call him." "I'll talk to you in the morning. Try not to worry." Angie hung up and drummed her fingers on the table. She still hesitated to call Tom, but her fears had heightened. Bud could be lying in his Porsche at the bottom of a ravine, bleeding to death.

Once Police Detective Tom Hoffman heads the investigation to find out what happened to Bud, the reader is cast on a rollercoaster ride to figure out whodunit, howdunit and whydunit. The villain'll surprise you!

If you've tried Ms. LaPierre's Hawkman series, "The Enemy Stalks" and "Double Trouble", you know you're in for a treat when you curl up with one of her delightful mysteries.

Summary: first rate
Review: Betty Sullivan LaPierre, author of the Hawkman series is a first rate writer who knows how to grab readers with class and dash. Her writing style has the energy of melted Ozark Mountain snow headed for the mighty Mississippi and readers find their senses whirled, twirled and swirled leaving them out of breath and dizzy.

The one thing I have always enjoyed about a LaPierre book is its top notch action and extreme level of suspense. True to her form, both are quickly evident in this tale of murder, blackmail, unfaithfulness, and embezzlement.

From the first line you'll know that there is literally something rotten in the kitchen and secrets teem. Clues fall like rocks, hitting the reader and stunning him/her with smart and ambiguous traps. You will find yourself scrolling just one more page until exhausted you'll have reach this book's unanticipated conclusion.

Review: By TT reviewer Elaine Leite
You could say that Bud Nevers has it all. Bud has a beautiful wife of twenty-five years, Angie. He owns his own business, Nevers Computer Technology. Bud's best friend, Ken Weber, is his business partner. Things always look better from the outside looking in.

At the Nevers' anniversary party, Bud and Angie are entertaining all of their guest when the door bell rings. With the housekeeper, Marty, in the kitchen and Bud conversing with guests, Angie goes to get the door. She is caught off guard by the beautiful tall blonde stranger with the most piercing green eyes that she has ever seen. She introduces herself as Melinda and informs Angie that she is sorry for being so late and that she is here for Bud. Angie rushes over to her husband and informs him that a young stranger named Melinda has arrived. Bud leads Melinda outside. Angie could see that Bud is angry with Melinda. Angie starts to fear the worst. Could Bud be having an affair?

At Nevers Computer Technology, Bud has hired on an intern, Bill Crane, who is really eager to learn. As Bill is going through paperwork he comes across a questionable entry in the accounting books. ABC Wafer Company would take fifty-thousand dollars out on the same day every month for the past year. After looking at the stock market, Bill realizes that ABC Wafer Company must not be a real company. Bill explains to Bud what he has discovered. Bud knows that someone in the company is embezzling money from his company. Bud contacts his auditors to take care of this problem and informs his CEO, Ken Weber, about the discovery.

Just when Bud thinks that things can't get worse, Ken and Sandy Weber's twin girls are in an accident. For the next week, Angie helps Sandy take care of the twins. To Bud, the week is a big blur. He is sure that his problems only come in threes, Melinda showing up at the house, the problem with ABC Wafer Company, and now the Weber twins. Angie finally decides to confront Bud about Melinda after his golf game with Ken. But Bud never makes it home. Angie, scared and unsure of what to do, calls her friend Tom Hoffman, who is a detective. Angie's biggest fears come true. Bud is dead, but the worst part is that he was murdered.

Murder.com is one of the best books that I have read in a while. I could not put the book down. I wanted to find out who did it. When I found out I was blown away. Murder.com has so many twists and turns that it grabs a hold of you and does not let go. Ms. la Pierre has got herself a winner here. I will recommend this book to everyone I know.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I love a good mystery that keeps me guessing right up until the end. Ms. La Pierre had so many suspects it invaded my dreams as I tried to figure out who did it!

Bud Nevers is murdered after a mysterious young lady shows up at a party he and his wife were hosting.

After her husband is killed, Angie Nevers learns a secret that makes her wonder if she even knew her husband at all, even after 25 years of marriage.

Tom Hoffman investigates Bud's untimely death, frustrated by locked computer files. The files they could open suggested the company was clean--too clean. And they couldn't find the dummy business a young accountant warned Bud about.

The evidence keeps pointing back to Ken Weber, Bud's partner. Ken is uncooperative and stood to gain a lot from Bud's death. He becomes angry and hostile, taking it out on his wife and kids.

Throw in a few well-placed characters, and you'll have a time trying to figure out "whodunit". Ms. La Pierre is a great mystery author, and I plan on enjoying more of her novels in the future.

Summary: A real winner.
Review: The minute you open MURDER.COM you are hooked. The story grabs you. The characters grab you. And you are doomed until you read that last page. Even then you keep thinking about it.

Bud and Angie Nevers decide to have a group of friends in to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. The party was going beautifully. Everyone was having a great time talking, and just enjoying themselves, when the doorbell rings. Angie goes to answer it. At the door is a very beautiful woman, with green eyes that are unlike any she has ever seen. The woman says her name is Melinda, and asks if Bud is home, and could she speak to him. Angie, although her curiosity is aroused, goes and tells Bud that there is a young woman at the door who wishes to speak to him. Upon hearing her name, Bud rushes to the door, and takes her outside to speak to her. From that moment on nothing is the same for Angie, or Bud.

Angie decides that she has to find out who this woman is, and why she showed up unannounced to talk to her husband. However, before she can do this the children of Bud's business partner, Ken, are in a school bus accident, and Angie has to help Sandy, Ken's wife. So she puts the questions she has on hold until after the children can recuperate from their injuries.

Finally after the children have recuperated, and Sandy is able to handle things pretty much on her own again, Angie decides she will ask Bud who Melinda is. And just what she wanted out of him. At the same time, and on his own, Bud has decided that he will come clean with Angie, and hope that she will understand. But before this can happen, Bud is found dead in what appears to be an automobile accident.

Angie is devastated. Thank goodness she has Marty to help her out. Marty is more than just Angie's housekeeper, she has also been her friend since she was a child.

Angie cannot believe that the accident was just that, an accident. She knows Bud too well. In fact she doesn't believe that it was Bud's burned body in the car in the first place. So she enlists the help of one of Bud's, and her, friends, Tom Hoffman, who happens to be a police detective to help her find out just what is going on.

From that moment on, things get really out of hand.

The reader is taken on a journey that has more twists and turns than a mountain road. There are characters you will absolutely detest, those that you will love, and even more that you will admire. Angie is a woman who has the strength of ten, but at the same time a gentle way about her that draws you to her. Marty's loyalty is so strong, that you can only love her, and hope that she will come out of this whole thing on top. In fact every character in MURDER.COM has his, or her, own personality that draws the reader to them.

More than once I thought I had the story figured out. In fact I was positive. Only to find out I couldn't have been more wrong.

Ms LaPierre has written a wonderful story. She ties all the pieces together and they make perfect sense. But you still can't figure it out until she lets you. And you won't be able to put the book down until she does.

I recommend that you pick up a copy of MURDER.COM, but when you do, don't open it until you have nothing else planned for a few hours. Because if you do, whatever you had planned will not get done. You will be held captive to the story that unfolds on these pages.

I can't wait to open another of Ms LaPierre's books. Although it is going to be very hard for her to top MURDER.COM.
