Summary: Memories Die Last
Review: "Memories Die Last" is a quick-paced, atmospheric thriller with crackling dialogue in the style of Raymond Chandler and Robert B. Parker. With "Memories", author Smith has created a new kind of hero in Nick Seven, a former CIA agent hiding from a painful memory (hence the title) that he must eventually face. Set mostly on the Florida Keys, the story juxtaposes the laid-back atmosphere of Southern FL against the dark underside and double-dealing of a government intelligence agency left to it's own devices. Reading this is like watching a good movie, and I can't wait to see what Smith comes up with in his next installment in the series!

Summary: Roll the opening credits! - by David Compton, author
Review: All Nick Seven wanted after he retired from the CIA was to live a normal life, running his restaurant/bar in Key Largo. He had almost been able to live with the loss of his love, killed years ago, by his arch enemy, Lavender. But the past wouldn't let him go. Was Lavender really dead? And worse, he no longer knew who he could trust. When his re-assembled "team" started to fall apart, he had to face the unthinkable.

This is a very well written story that is really almost two stories in one. Just when you think all is well that ends well, you and Nick are drawn in once again, into some unfinished business. Could he survive one more time? And could he protect Felicia, the Barbadian beauty he had come to love?

I just wish the book was longer... I wanted more! Hopefully, Tim Smith will continue to entertain us with many more stories of "Lucky" Nick Seven... the newest member of heroes to join the ranks of Dirk Pitt, and Ben Gannon.

Summary: Government corruption...
Review: As mentioned, "Some memories are better left alone". Indeed, as Nick Seven tries to cope with the fast pace of intrigue he is drawn back into, he has a difficult time reconciling his memories with his life's work. An exciting story revealing government corruption at the highest levels. Tim Smith has a winner in this fast moving adventure of thrills and gritty action.

Summary: Ohio Today says "fast-paced and haunting"
Review: In his novel "Memories Die Last" author Tim Smith explores the fast-paced world of former CIA intelligence officer Nick Seven. Now the owner of a yacht club in Key Largo, FL., Seven has made himself comfortable staying out of the limelight and relaxing away from his past. That lasts until another agent from the famed Team Seven walks in to pay him a visit. He reports that the terrorist Seven had buried years ago might have faked his death only to return to terrorize the United States. Haunted by the possibility, Seven walks back into the fast lane of hunting terrorists around the globe.

This a fast-paced, haunting and thought-provoking book that will have you turning the page to see what happens next.

Summary: Espionage, romance and action packed.
Review: Nick Seven sits on the deck of Calhoun's Yacht Club, glass of scotch in hand watching the yachts return from a day of leisure. Sun is low in the sky and all is well with the world. So why change it?
Our hero, Nick is a retired CIA, one of the best and they want him back. It isn't long before Nick and his old partners Felicia and Brodie are back in action searching for their nemesis, Lavender. Nick is still mourning the death of his first wife Gwyn, but Felicia is hoping for more. The hunt leads them to Europe, however things are not what they seem and it doesn't take Nick long to figure out just who is behind all of the terrorist murders. Can Nick settle an old score or will it be him or one of his partners that winds up dead?
Lively, and full of suspense, Memories Die Last is action packed from beginning to end. Mystery, espionage and a sprinkling of romance provide the reader with a good entertaining mix.
Dialogue is believable with character's personalities merging and working well together. Vivid imagery brings the Florida Keys to life for the reader. Writing style flows smoothly from chapter to chapter- All in all an intriguing read.

Summary: Family Ties says "Topical and inspiring"
Review: Tim Smith has a winner with his first book. I don't pretend to be an expert in the "thriller" genre, but I do appreciate good writing, well-drawn characters, and dialog that crackles with realism. This book has that.

Nick Seven is the main character, trying to live down his past in Key Largo. Nick is given to solitary reflections on the death of his wife and a job that went sour. Some memories are better left alone. Nursing his favorite scotch and smoking Winstons as he takes in breathtaking sunsets seems to be Nick's only comfort.

The ex-C.I.A. anti-terrorist operative turned successful restauranteur doesn't live his peaceful life for very long. His old boss wheedles him back into action and calls up Nick's old partners, "Team Seven". The one good thing that comes of this reacquaintance is that Felicia Hagens comes back into Nick's life.

Nick is nobody's patsy, and soon resumes the tough guy image that made him so good at his old job. Reluctance to put another woman he cares about in harms way is soon forgotten as a new relationship begins. Felicia's voracious sexuality takes Nick outside his sorrow and brings him back to life, but even that delight cannot deter him from the task at hand. Nick works his way through a convoluted group of evil doers, taking each new lead as it comes with his usual aplomb.

This is a hard-edged, sexy and stylish book with a savvy, no-nonsense hero. I liked it, and hope to see more out of Tim Smith very soon.
