Rating: Summary: Dark, Gritty and Hard hitting Review: Brennan has composed a dark and suspenseful work of fiction, This novel works on multiple layers: On the surface, it is an intense mystery/thriller that competes with the best of the genre. Brennan also subtly examines the concept of "hero" - is Clunie a reluctant hero, a borderline madman, or a desperate, dying man looking for redemption? And lastly, the novel forces the reader to examine the concept of vengence, and how effective a revenge is for effecting real, lasting change. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an exciting read, or anyone who has enjoyed the work of DeMille or Hunter.
Rating: Summary: Fast-moving story keeps you hooked Review: This book manages to take a potentially downer of a subject (a guy diagnosed with AIDS), and a potentially unlikable character (cheats on his wife) and weaves a compelling, fast-paced story that kept me turning the pages. Clunie may be an unfaithful husband, but he's someone you actually like and want to see how he "fixes" his situation. I gave the book to my husband, who also loved it, thought the plot was great, and the ending is worth waiting for!
