Summary: Simply A Stunning Read
Review: Language triumphs in this extraodinarily powerful novel by Australian author Robyn Friend. What a joy to bathe in the English language, used as it was intentended- to illuminate and fire the imagination. The novel, rich in symbolism and multi-layered is a must for anyone who values good literature. Simply a stunning read!

Summary: Lust, violence, love and friendship
Review: THE BUTTERFLY STALKER
Lust, violence, love and friendship churn disturbingly through the pages of The Butterfly Stalker as Thea struggles to resolve the age-old question of how to survive and even perhaps find happiness as a mature woman. At first it is difficult to empathize with the cold, calculating Thea but as we learn more abut her past we come to understand, sympathize and even fear for her future.
The Butterfly Stalker is superbly constructed and exquisitely written.
Vivid colors and brilliant shafts of light glitter against the contrasting dark of violence past and present. The memorable images are distorted reflections of Thea's highly charged emotions.
What exactly does the imprisoned butterfly represent? Read and consider.

Summary: Work of quality
Review: This book impressed me as a work of quality. And it's subtle. It reminds me of what Tasmania or even New Zealand must have been like in the past, it's got the flavour of old England in the land of the aborigine. Sort of the war of the sexes cloaked in metaphor, art, murder, hidden games and hidden pregnancies. Recommended.

Nicholas Playford (author, The Prisoner Gains a Blurred Skin)
