Rating: Summary: A voyagersau Book Review Review: For a first business enterprise, who needs murder, death threats and threatening notes every time you turn around? That's what Kelly Sanders finds when she invests her inheritance and her dreams for the future in Holt House, boarding house and Bed and Breakfast to be. An impulse trip to a local estate auction of the well known former house of the mysterious Holt family finds Kelly struck with her own image. In a painting, that is! The locals agree that she bears an uncanny resemblance to the late Mrs Amelia Holt. The small town of Serenity had their own stories about the Holt family and as Kelly sets up business with the help of her best friend Sharon some of the secrets of Holt Houses's mysterious past seem to be revealing themselves in present day terrifying reality. A little romance, a little classic spooky house mystery, a little humour, "Secrets of Holt House" is a stand alone second novel for Nevada author Marja McGraw. The cast of characters makes for a smorgasboard upon which to cast your suspicions of whodunnit, and all is revealed upon conclusion in somewhat Scooby Doo style. An enjoyable quick mystery read, definitely for the cozy reader female of the species.

Rating: Summary: Secrets of Holt House Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this mystery book and would definitely recommend this one to mystery readers. The characters are well developed and the author really keeps your interest as the suspense and intrigue develops. I would also recommend Big Trouble for a Little Lady...a detective story with alot of action and romance..like the movie "L.A. Confidential"The author has a definite style!!
Rating: Summary: Secrets of Holt House: A Mystery Review: I've enjoyed both of Marja's published mysteries. The genre is definitely her field. She develops interesting characters who feel very real and plots that are both realistic and surprising. Marja's sense of plot development grows with each new book. "Secrets of Holt House..." actually sent shivers down my spine as her heroine explored the deepest heart of this intriguing home. Good job, Marja!
Rating: Summary: SECRETS OF HOLT HOUSE review Review: Marja McGraw's SECRETS of HOLT HOUSE is told in first person and has all the elements a cozy mystery needs to bring you under her spell. Kelly Sanders tells her story and captures your imagination immediately by inheriting money from a distant cousin's will. She's a young thirty-six, working long hours for a law firm and living on fast food at the time. She immediately goes shopping for a new car, wardrobe, and with time on her hands after quitting her job, calls her best friend, Sharon, to go to an estate sale at a restored Civil War era house with her. The sale is outside of town and Kelly buys several pieces of furniture and a portrait of a former owner which looks amazingly like her. The setting and scenery are well done and make you feel you're there visiting the small town and the characters introduced. Needing an income now that she's quit her job, Kelly buys the house with an eye to opening a Bed and Breakfast. She hires help and Sharon moves in too to help. Kelly hires help and sets up her Bed and Breakfast. The strange coincidence of the likeness to the portrait, a puzzling note left in her room and odd noises Kelly and Sharon decide are 'settling' in the old house are dismissed as Kelly busily takes care of her new business but these things along with discovering some secret passges in the house are enough to keep her on edge. However, Kelly is fast falling in love with one of her guests and is distracted until a boarder falls to her death from an upper floor window. Having witnessed the fall of the guest Kelly knows she was pushed but didn't see who pushed her. Then another guest has a fatal fall down the stairs. Knowing neither of these deaths was an accident but having no tangible proof, Kelly is too frightened by the threatening notes even to trust the guest whom she loves. Can she figure out who the killer is in time to save her own life - and her romance? SECRETS OF HOLT HOUSE is a page-turner of a cozy mystery, and there is more to come. Marja McGraw is also the author of BIG TROUBLE FOR A LITTLE LADY, watch for more of her books at www.marjamcgraw.com or iuniverse.com.
Rating: Summary: Great 2nd effort Review: This was a pleasant surprise. The characters are well defined and you get to not just like them, but be involved. Like her earlier Big Trouble for a Little Lady (with characters you can get VERY attached to) this shows an interesting plot line that is intriguing. I reccommend it to anyone that likes mysteries
