Summary: Boring
Review: A novel this size usually takes me about 4 nights to finish. This one took me almost 2 weeks. I just couldn't keep my eyes open.
The first 75 pages are fairly interesting. The crime itself is miraculously solved in the last 25 pages (I still don't know how our heroine Jackie suddenly figured who the killer was). That leaves us with 95 (!!!) pages of endless, boring, film and literature oriented monologues by Jackie's friends and superiors that have absolutely nothing to do with the already weak plot.
Jackie and Michael McGowan were definitely an item in the last installment in the series. Now he's hardly in the picture, sleeping with one of her friends to top it all off (which Jackie - again miraculously - had a hunch about) and Jackie is flirting with some aging, has-been Hollywood type. Did I miss something?
The only positive aspect of the book is that we finally learn that Palmer is a city in Ohio and not, as most readers were assuming, located on the East Coast.

Summary: Terribly Boring
Review: I found this book to be a great disappointment. The dog plays no part and whole pages are given to text that has nothing to to with anything. Quoting the classics is quite boring and has nothing to do with the plot. It is hard to remember what the actual plot is.
