Summary: "Die Hard 2" fan--read this!
Review: "58 Minutes", the inspiration for the sequel to "Die Hard", "Die Hard 2" is a great book and a must read for any "Die Hard 2" fan out there. "58 Minutes" takes place in New York City (Washington D.C. in "Die Hard 2") about a New York cop named Frank Malone(John Mclane in "Die Hard 2")who has Christmas planned. Frank's 8 year old daughter Kate (his wife Holly in "Die Hard 2") is flying in from California (Frank is divorced) where she lives to visit him for Christmas in New York City. She is flying into JFK International, and Frank will pick her up there. But in the meantime, a group of terrorists, lead by Willi Staub (Willi Stuart in "Die Hard 2") makes their demands. Their demands: seven of the most dangerous terrorists released from prison, and given safe passage out of the country. If their demands are not met, the airplane with Kate on it will crash on approach to NYC in 58 minutes. This was a very well written novel, and I recommend it to any "Die Hard 2" fan out there.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Swift and thrilling
Review: This book is intense. As the basis for the movie Die Hard 2, this book has an outstanding premesis. The hero is a normal cop trying to get his young daughter down safely as terrorists have taken control of the tower for the airports in the Tri State area during one of the worst blizzards ever. The story takes many different turns then the movie and can easily be stated as different. But the book moves swifter then any other book I have read. I can't say why, maybe it's the clock-is-ticking kind of suspense, maybe the action, maybe the characters that the story focuses on, but the book moves at a rapid pace. Thankfully, intelligence is not given up for speed. The book is smart and well thought out. Envioroment, lack of knowledge of the terrorists and dwindling time make this book exciting. Don't look for deep emotions or higher meanings, this book is about one cop in the middle of chaos, keeping his cool and staying focused while he tries to keep his daughter, and everyone else flying above, from getting killed.
