Summary: Really?
Review: A previous reviewer, Eric Smith, claims that he is a Democrat.

Not quite!

Click on his name and you will notice that he gives 4 or 5 star reviews to books by Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, and such.

Sorry man, didn't your mom tell you not to lie.

Summary: A Republican Commenting Strategy
Review: How could I give this book a bad rating, but still act like I'm on the Democratic side....Ah-ha! I'll say I'm a Democrat myself, then I'll trash this book and then I'll suggest another Democratic Candidate that I know is Unelectable...like Joe or Al Sharpton...hehe, it's so good, so evil, it just might work!

People please beware of the Republican spin machine. That's all they have left. People are scared of Dean because he presents the best chance of taking the Bush Gang down. Dean raised 40 million in 2003 alone (and that's before he receives the Democratic Vote)! That is light years beyond any other Democrat in history. And that's important considering Bush will have 200 million to spend this election distorting and twisting the truth.

THE BOTTOM LINE
This book is a good primer on Dean. It touches briefly on many hot topics and is also a good tool to use when influencing other Democrats to endorse Dean. I suggest true Democrats stick to what they feel in there heart and endorse the best opponent against Bush. And Republican's that post here stop your lies for once and say your Republican.

Summary: My God. Howard Dean, your poop is probably prettier than you
Review: Howard Dean is a big, fat, idiot. No, strike big. He's a little munchkin who gets red in the face every time he hears something he doesn't like. "Oooh, Howie, you know likey? Let me run down to Zabar's and get some caviar."

Okay, of the worst three people to lead America, I grant you that Dean is not number one. (1) Cheney (2) Bush (3) Dean (4) Guy in pickup truck with Confederate flag.

By the way, this book sucks.

Give me a break. Democrats, screw your heads back on and give us someone that I could vote for without vomiting shortly after.

Summary: Howard Dean in his Own Lies
Review: Howard Dean is not who you think he is. I know many Demcorats who hate Howard Dean. Why? Because he is like ae puppet, molded out to be whatever the liberals are complaining about. First he was pro-war, and now he's anti-war. Then he complains about Bush's "bad" plan for the war and how it "didn't work." Which plan are you referring to, Dean? The One that took 14 months to think up? Dean is actually pro-life but changes his idaes to get votes. See, that's how the Democrats work. They are not honest. They change their ideas to get votes. They also believe in bigger government because the bigger the government, the more power they'll have. Sadly it seems Dean is the Dems top nominee. I miss the old Demorcats like JFK. he was a great president and sadly (so far) the last one. I hope Zell Miller sometime runs for President and shows us the REAL Democratic party we all used to love. I am a registered democrat, but I keep feel like I have to change partys, and I did. Howard Dean wants to raise all the tax cuts Bush created (both for middle and upper class) which will not get any votes. He also insulted southern, white men using bad stereotype. I think that will hurt his campaign. Personally I prefer Lieberman out of (if any) all of them. He seems more like the old fashioned Democrats that actually cared for the poor and middle class. I don't think Dean will win the election.

Summary: The Tao of Dean
Review: I spoke with Gov. Dean when he was in Charleston a few months back. I was impressed with his speech and asked if he had any books that collected his ideas. He mentioned this and "Winning Back America," and both had not yet been released at the time. I told him I'd look forward to reading them.

Essentially, this is just that. A collection of his ideas in quotes of varying lengths of varying issues of the day. Those who have heard Dean speak in person or who have heard him unedited on C-Span will recognize much of this as standards in Gov. Dean's speeches.

A few of Gov. Dean's best lines ("I'd rather be right and lose than wrong and win") are not present here, but enough of his standards are here to give you a good idea of what he's about-a man of ideas who bases his beliefs on his feelings and experiences as opposed to any political dogma.

In this book, Gov. Dean says that his major political influences were Jimmy Carter and Harry Truman. Judging from the times I've heard him in person and from this book, I would put him closer to Bobby Kennedy and Wendell Willkie as I think his ideas have more in common with the latter two.

In either case, it's a good basic way to make up your mind about how you feel about Gov. Dean. For further and indepth reading , check his "Winning Back America."

Summary: Howard Dean is a Con Artist
Review: I'm sorry to inform all of you liberals Democrats that Howard Dean is not one of you. As a native Vermonter I lived through the entire 11 years of Howard Dean's rein as governor. From this experience I can tell you one thing as being true about Howard: He is no liberal. Now granted, you are hearing this from a moderate Vermont Republican, but what I am teling you is that I voted for Howard Dean four out of the five time he ran for Governor. The reason I voted for him is that he is a conservative Democrat, with views that are not out of line my own. Now if you want liberal, we certainly do have that here in Vermont. Politians like U.S. Rep. Bernie Sanders, former Lt. Gov. Doug Racine, former Sen. Cheryl Rivers, former Sen. Peter Shumlin, Rep. John Freidin, Rep. Paul Porier, Mayor Peter Clavel, Sen. Dick McCormack, etc., how those folks are liberals. If you want a liberal President, all you liberals out there should draft one of those folks to be a candidate. If Howard is elected President it will be interesting to see how the liberals that are currently suporting him feel after he turns his back on them, as I have every confidience he will.

Summary: Con Artist?
Review: In response to Greg Hovey's review of 1/1/04: A con artist because he's not really liberal? It's the press and the other dem candidates who say he's a liberal, not him!! (Read the last paragraph of the editorial reviews.) Ha!! :) Just for that I think you should REALLY read the book, Greg. With an open mind.

Summary: Real Howard Dean
Review: This is Howard Dean in his own words. Not spin form political pundits or pseudo-intellectuals, but a collection of quotes from Dean himself. This way the reader can come to his or her own conclusions. This book is power-packed, concise and straight-forward - much like Howard Dean himself! I highly recommend this book if you are interested in learning the truth about Dean's views on important issues in our country.

Summary: Terrific look at our future President.
Review: When my 20-year-old daughter shook Howard Dean's hand, he smiled and asked warmly for her vote. He didn't hesitate when he saw her eyebrow was pierced. He didn't talk down to a young woman approaching her first presidential election. He was kind and attentive and he won the vote he so politely requested. Lisa Rogak's book deftly captures this amazing leader through stylish and thoughtful quotes, as the title suggests, in his own words. It's a great, quick overview about Dr. Dean. It's a must for any good citizen committed to taking back the country for ALL Americans, not just the wealthy or hawkish.
