Rating: Summary: Talk about dishonest liberals..... Review: "I see that phony lexis-nexis transcript of Limbaugh's show has turned up among the reviews here. That first turned up on the web in the fall of 2003 - almost ten years after Limbaugh's statements were reported in the press."Nope, not phony. I dont know when it first came on the web, but that transcript has been archived in lexis AND burrelles since 1992 (go ask them yourself!), the original airing of the program (at the end of every program a voiceover would announce that day's show transcript can be bought from burelles). But hey, if its phony, then where's all the liberals going to lexis, or burelles to get the actual transcript, or better yet, providing us with a video or sound tape recording? Hasn't happend, has it? Know why? Because the provided transcript below is the real one, and your version of events doesnt exist because your version didn't happen. "I can attest that Rush Limbaugh did repeat his ugly joke about cats and "dogs" because I heard it myself in the mid-90s." Oh god, not another one. I'm so tired of those who claim to have "heard" it. You "heard" NOTHING. (The incident in question took place on his tv show, not his radio show. Way to give your dishonest self away!). Geez, I wish I had a nickel for every lib who again was bearing false witness on this alone. You know, I'm so tired of all the Limbaugh critic phonies who claim to have seen that particular episode. I just cant begin to count the number of anti-Limbaugh people on the internet whom I've watched give a phony description of events, then claim to have seen it with their own eyes. Not realizing that their phony description of events that they recount has given them away. It's amazing. At the time the show was still on the air, they all said that none of them would be caught dead watching the show, now years after the fact, they're all coming out of the woodwork, claiming to have not only seen (or rather "heard) the show, but that particular one as well. Rush made no such "ugly" joke, ever, much less repeated it in the mid 90's or at ANY time. You saw this phony version of events somewhere on the net, assumed it was true, and repeated it here, claiming that you heard it yourself. What's amazing is that you still do it in the face of the transcripted evidence. "He may have apologized profusely once" He apologized profusely more than once. What about the word "profusely, didnt you understand? "(I guess this means that he certainly DID make this kind of crack!)," No. This means no such thing. He made no crack at all as the transcript shows. "but he repeated it nonetheless." No he did not. You're making this up as you go along. He promised not to mention Chelsea unless she was mentioned in the press in such a big way that it couldnt be avoided being commented upon. He NEVER said it in the first place, much less repeated it, or talked about the actual incident in question after his apologies. "Why it was not noted in the press probably has more to do with the fact that it was old news and no one wanted to repeat this viciousness and give the guy more free publicity." Absolutely ridiculous conjecture ("probably"). It (your version of events) was not noted in the press, because it NEVER happened. End of story.
Rating: Summary: Oh for God's sake..... Review: "By the way, I also heard Rush's quote about cats and dogs..." A third witness who falsely claims to have "heard it". Have you guys no shame? Do you really think you're fooling anyone?
Rating: Summary: Oh, fer crying out loud Review: ....another one? "Speaking of Rush and dogs--it's interesting to see that his attack dogs have come out in full force against this book. As someone who recalls hearing the quote in question" You "heard" NOTHING, buster. You know it, I know it.
Rating: Summary: i've only read excerpts so far... Review: ...but if this book is anything like the excerpts, then it should be required reading for every american! for some reason the corporate owned media has been giving the corrupt GOP a pass for years. this book looks to expose their hypocrisy and humiliate the fascists we know as republicans. hopefully, the brainwashed republican voters will read this book so they can become familiar with the corruption they have been supporting for so long. this book, and books like it, have been long overdue. it's finally time to expose the liars and hypocrites like the bush administration and their sorry apologists and propogandists like rush limbaugh and ann coulter. there's a sleeping democratic majority and this book will start to wake it up.
Rating: Summary: Filled with innaccurate quotes... Review: ...but what else is new? According to the book: "In 1996, Rush Limbaugh said, "The Clintons have a cat, but their nanny has a dog." There are several things wrong with this. First off, the original urban legend goes like this: "Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?" Limbaugh said on TV, before holding up a picture Chelsea. So, I dont know where the authors got "nanny" from. In the second place, Rush said neither quote. In the third place, the incident in question took place in 1992, not in 1996: Transcript from lexis-nexis (Rush was doing a segment on In/Out lists) Multimedia Entertainment, Inc. RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOW: RUSH LIMBAUGH (9:00 PM ET) November 6, 1992, Friday 11:15 AM LIMBAUGH: Thank you. This show's era of dominant influence is just beginning. We are now the sole voice of sanity, the sole voice of reason. We are the sole voice of opposition on all television. This is the only place you can tune to to get the truth of the opposition of the one-party dictatorial government that now will soon run America. Oh, I mean, we are only beginning to enjoy dominance and prosperity. Most of these things on the in-out list are not even funny, but a couple of them--one of them in particular is. David Hinckley of--of the New York Daily News wrote this, and what he has--he's got--it's very strange. He says, In: A cute kid in the White House. Out: Cute dog in the White House.' Could--could we see the cute kid? Let's take a look at--see who is the cute kid in the White House. (A picture is shown of Millie the dog) LIMBAUGH: (Voiceover) No, no, no. That's not the kid. (Picture shown of Chelsea Clinton) LIMBAUGH: (Voiceover) That's--that's the kid. We're trying to... _________________________ Yes, it was a mistake, and yes, he profusely apologized.
Rating: Summary: Facts are stupid things Review: For years we've been told that the haters are all on the left. This book sets the record straight. It just drives them crazy , doesn't it?
Rating: Summary: as bad as you thought Review: Here in one handy book are many of the outrageous things you thought you'd heard conservative extremists say, arranged in chapters by topic (education, judiciary, the Clintons, etc.) and indexed by name at the back of the book. There are over 350 pages of quotes here (in standard typeface) and I bet it would be easy to put together another volume. Quotes range from a sentence to a page, and give the context of the utterance. As one might expect, George W., Ann Coulter, Tom Delay, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Newt and Rummy figure largely, and the quotes are as outrageous as one fears. They are hateful, hate-filled and despicable, and go a long way in explaining the coarsening of American political discourse.
Rating: Summary: Roe Conn in this book? Review: I cannot believe that Roe Conn on WLSAM Radio in Chicago was quoted TWICE in this book!! He's no politico -- and if he were anything it would NOT be in the GOP. Talk about quotes being taken out of context.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: I couldn't put the book down. It is humorous and thought provoking. I highly recommend this book! By the way, I also heard Rush's quote about cats and dogs, which a reviewer below puts into question.
Rating: Summary: Shocking Review: I knew these guys were dirty, but until now I had no proof of it. Some of these quotes are mind blowing in their ignorance and arrogance. For example, the GOP Erie County (NY) Executive Joel Giambra's comment last year on why he switched his kids to private school: "Our children began to be fearful of black kids, so we decided that something had to change, and we were fortunate enough to be able to make the choice."
