Rating: Summary: More powerful because it comes from "above the fray". Review: Dick Morris is a louse, to be sure. Anyone who has been in bed (figuratively speaking) with Bill Clinton is questionable. However, he has been on both sides of the political wars, and in today's hyper-antagonistic political culture, that gives him a unique objectivity. So when he condemns the left, it comes with a degree of implicit credibility that a pure "right winger" would not have. Only Nixon could go to China, and only Morris (and Zell Miller and a few others) can call the irresponsible liberal extremists what they truly are. In a word, they are THE PROBLEM.
Rating: Summary: great food for thought Review: Former Clinton advisor and current Fox News Channel political analyst, Dick Morris, doesn't let anyone "off the hook" in this very well written and thoroughly documented book. He offers detailed insights to the current events of the day that are shaping America. From the obvious left-wing major media bias to the sub-par care in America's nursing homes, Morris not only offers historical reference to the problems that faces Amercia, but also commonsense suggestions on how to correct them. Topics he covers include: *The ridiculous and obvious media bias so prevailent in major media today that dares to call itself real journalism. *The media credibility gap with the Iraq War. *How Clinton left "ticking terror time bombs" for Bush to discover and how the actions taken in Afghanastin and Iraq by the Bush Administration are very necessary and should be supported by all Amercians. *How the Hollywood apologists' lame retorts seek to divide America and how they have no idea what they are really talking about and how political activists such as Noam Chomsky are well-meaning but very misguided. *The history of America's relationship with France and why France has stabbed us in the back concerning our fight against terrorism and how France has for so long been in the "back pocket" of Iraq. *How both republicans and democrats took the lead in promoting laws that protect crooked companies such as Enron to defraud its investors with imputnity. *How both democrats and republicans are guilty of gerrymandering in their districts so they have very little competition in their re-election efforts. *The attack on our kids by the tobacco companies and how many state governors used the settlement money to their own benefits instead of using it toward anti-smoking campaigns which is what it was for. *The terrible care in America's nursing homes. This is a very good book full of information and backed up with very detailed facts that everyone should read whether or not you may agree with Morris' outcomes. I, myself, don't necessarily agree with everything that Morris proposes. However, it will defninetly make you look at some things in a "different light." I especially enjoyed the section on France. I now have a much clearer understanding on why France continually "thumbs it's nose" at America and why we should no longer pay them any heed until they get their act together.
Rating: Summary: The truth Review: It's good to see that books about the truth are starting to get out there. I'm sick of books laced with B.S. from people like Richard Clarke, Hillary Clinton, and the very un-intelligent Al Franken (however you spell his name!)
Rating: Summary: He's Mad As Hell And He's Not Going to Take It Anymore. Review: There have been many books published since the events of September 11, 2002. Most skewer the Clinton legacy and the left-wing opposition to Bush. Some are excellent (O'Reilly and Coulter), some interesting (Savage) and some in between (Hannity). But this book by Dick Morris has them all beaten and beaten by a large margin. The difference? Unlike the others, who are looking into the fishbowl, Morris has actually lived in the fishbowl as an advisor to Bill Clinton. This special insight is what fuels his book and gives it a special weight not shared by the others. Although he begins with an attack against the left-wing bias so prevalent in our media, Morris does not stop there. He takes on all manner of sacred cows, and his chapter on the Hollywood liberals transformed by the media into America's newest set of intellectuals is worth the price of admission alone, especially as concerns Streisand and Sarandon. His take, on the disingenuousness of France during the Iraq war, is also hilarious, and dead on target. What also makes Morris so special from the rest is his strong reliance on facts over opinions and feelings and his refusal to play the game of demonization. Clinton may have been dead wrong in his views and actions on foreign terrorism, but he was not a traitor. The only real venom I saw from Morris was toward France, and there I couldn't disagree with him, especially with their tasteless and racist treatment of Serena Williams at the recent French Open still reverberating in my mind. Morris does run out of steam at the end when he begins taking on a slew of offenders (elected officials misusing tobacco settlement monies, the tobacco industry itself, and that all-round target, Congress itself), but, still, he does so with a deftness and panache that is simply not found in the other books on the subjects. Funny, informative and on-target.
Rating: Summary: A blistering denunciation of malfeasance Review: You have to hand it to Dick Morris. He's his own man - a veritable self-styled mercenary in American politics. Morris has singularly carved an unforgettable niche in the American political landscape with his uncommon wit and candor coupled with his undeniable political accumen and penchant for winning. Always entertaining when on Hannity & Colmes, Morris candidly and expertly delineates, and subsequently roasts, the obstructionists, crooks, and traitors in politics, media, and business in Off With Their Heads. Morris astutely points out the unconscionable media bias of The Old Gray Lady in its liberally-weighted push polling, editorial, and front page articles. As Morris says, "All the news that fits, they print." Morris spares no one from his wrath: including the Hollywood apologists, France("from great to ingrate"), Clinton, and many more. Having met Morris at a book signing for this book, I am pleased to note he is as personable in person as he is on TV. Off With Their Heads is well worth the effort to read for any true political enthusiast.
Rating: Summary: OFF WITH ALL THEIR HEADS Review: I read about 50 pages of this book and could take no more. Dick Morris should know deception when he sees it. How about a guy who solicits ladies of the evening while serving in government and writing this book? Fine man who is right where he belongs, on the FAUX NEWS CHANNEL in such fine company as William J. Bennett (Virtuous High Roller), Newt Gingrich (intern doer), Sean Hannity (propagada merchant), and Bill O'Reilly (pathological liar). Completely discredited. I say off with ALL their heads.
Rating: Summary: Got Milk? Review: Is the milk of sacred cows better than that of ordinary cows? Perhaps a few taste tests might reveal that answer to show how much cream exists in those blessed beasts. Besides, when was the last time anyone, or anything, was too sacred in America to be challenged?
Rating: Summary: GOP neocon darling Review: Yesterday, author Dick could not answer the very basic questions on the subject he has written about in the Stacy's bookstore San Francisco. What an embarrassment! All he could do was to try unsuccessfully to find someone to support his views. Which became more and more embarrassing for him. This shows the quality of his work. This guy was a Clinton zealot, then a GOP neocon darling. Give me a break. He's in it for the media attention and money. He has no values. Morris has not mentioned his own brush with sexual scandals with whores, himself being investigated for kickbacks and fraud, not to mention someone who called Bush senior a criminal. He's and idiot and you are too if you pay for this crap. He said he never heard Powell's plagiarizing a school kids paper for his speech at the UN. This is hard to believe! And this came after he praised and praised Powell against actor Michael Sheen. When this fact was again pointed at him, he changed the subject! Can someone who is serious, write about Powell, make him an idol, but be ignorant about his UN speech, and how the world made fun of us because of his amateur attempt to sell WMD policy on Iraq by plagiarizing a school kids paper? Well, this book is written by someone who has not paid attention to his subject matter. The book reflects Dick's ignorance, mediocrity, poor, one sided and cheap nationalistic propaganda. There are intelligent nationalists. Unfortunately Dick is not one of them. There are genuinely patriotic people. Dick is not one of them. If he wants to make a case for the issues he claims to defend, he has to do a lot of homework, read and learn a lot, get schooling. And occasionally read the daily newspapers. Even if it means reading the other side, so that he can make an argument against them. Attacking Hollywood or France does not cut it as real criticism, which Dick cannot do, due to his lack of political knowledge. He should start by not lying publicly about factual events where governments (England) have accepted and apologized while Dick claims he has no knowledge of the event! If he REALLY wants to do the right thing, first he should do a little homework... THEN write a book. This way he has a chance of persuading other people. But he should respect others' intelligence before stepping up to the soapbox. Dick wants to blame 9/11 and all evil on Hollywood, liberals and people he does not like. Never a mention that Bush's papa was on Bin Laden family's payroll, but he attacks Barbara Streisand for terrorism! Cheap, unintelligent nationalism. Forget the paper, it is not worth the ink spent on printing. If you want honest patriotism, or real criticism of the liberals you can find a lot of serious books where you may pick up some information, analysis and food for thought. Dick is cashing in on 9/11. Don't waste your time or money. If you are open minded and looking for those books begging for its pages to be turned...unlike this claptrap, look no further. I just read a copy of Edgar Fouche's 'Alien Rapture,' which also blew me away. Fouche was a Top Secret Black Program 'insider', whose credibility has been verified over and over. I also really liked Dan Brown's 'Angels and Demons.' Want to be shocked, check out Dr. Paul Hill's 'Unconventional Flying Objects' which NASA tried to ban.
Rating: Summary: leave your party behind and just embrace this book Review: This book is a great read. If your are truly interested in America's well being ahead of your party affiliation this book is for you. This book takes the U.S.'s ememies to task whether they are external or internal. If you love America I can only say one thing read this book.
Rating: Summary: Clinton is responsible for terrorism? Review: I stopped reading this Morris' illogical book when he accused Clinton of being responsible for terrorism. Was Morris really suggesting that terrorism didn't exist before the Clinton administration? After that stupidity, why would ANYBODY bother reading any further?
