Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This Book Works
Review: I have mixed emotions about the Dummies series and some books are great while some are frankly just duds.

This book is closer to what made the Dummies series famous. It presents a lot of information in a concise form, easy to read, neutral in tone with lots of maps and historical facts and figures. In this case the Dummies maps, cartoons, and the point form summaries seem pertinent and useful.

I like the book and think that for the money it makes a nice addition to a library or as a gift. It is not perfect and any one of the many subjects could be and are books unto themselves. But having said that this book works and does not disappoint - three or four stars.

This book might be best for older teenagers or younger readers who lack a depth of knowledge and want a quick introduction - or a tourist, visitor, or similar person or just a new student - to read before visiting the region or to skim before reading more detailed books.
