Rating: Summary: Rebuttal on Reader from Oregon Review: <quote> """"I find it difficult to believe that Mr. Timmerman is a paid journalist as I found this book to be a one sided view of history. While he notes that the French traded and had diplomatic relations with Iraq, he fails to examine America's relations with Saddam during the 1980s. In fact, during the Reagan administration, the US supported Iraq with weapons and turned a blind eye when Saddam was killing his people. With this in mind, I would theorize the Mr. Timmerman wrote this book merely to make a buck from current conservative America's hostile feelings over France. Freedom fries anyone?"""" <quote>I believe he makes his point pretty clear in his book "The Death Lobby - How the West armed Iraq". Turning a blind eye? Why is America the only one that gets blamed for Iraq attrocities when Germany, France, Britain & Italy sold just as many weapons to Iraq? Countries sell arms to other countries all of the time, even when attrocities are being commited. Look to China & N Korea!! You will bash America all day long but France, Germany, etc do the exact same thing. MORON!
Rating: Summary: America Needs To Extricate Itself From Jewish Control Review: Yet another neocon jew tome confusing the word AMERICA with ISRAEL. The author trots out those ol hoary chesnuts of imagined french anti-semitism with french anti-americanism. So what was Frances great betrayal? having the timerity to point out that the emporer has no clothes -- in iraq, in the middle east. Forget the fact that France was actually RIGHT about iraq, right and wrong have no meaning in neo-con fantasy-land. Reality is what the neocons say it is, facts are subversive. One would think that after the a year in iraq tired propaganda such as this would be laughed off the stage. not so here in america. It is a testament to jew tenacity that silly tripe such as this continues to be peddled, published and read by the unthinking right. Until america extricates itself from jewish influence and begins to understand that JEWISH interests are not AMERICAN interests, this country will continue down a dark and dangerous path.... all alone.
Rating: Summary: Very well researched Review: Despite the "moderatly agressive" title, this is a very objective piece of work. It is very well written and balanced. Overall, this is a must read for those who wish to better understand the often troubled Franco-american relations. Additionally, it does not reflect the US "conservatives" view of France as some uneducated cynics might suggest in reviews. This book is a model of objectivity backed by solid facts...
Rating: Summary: Frog Cheese Eaters Are Finally Uncovered! Review: Here we finally get what I've been looking for -- a clear, concise explanation as to why the French Army invaded the United States in Operation "American Freedom" in 1776. You remember don't you? The British King was a dictator, so that big French army drove the British out of the United States and then proceeded to occupy American towns, for, like, two years. At first, the Americans liked the French. They were grateful for Operation American Freedom. But then remember how those French soldiers killed lots of Americans in Philadelphia and Boston and all. And then they put some dunce named Paul Bremmier in charge. Next thing you know -- all of us Americans hated those French! Yeah, I tell you -- those French -- when they sent their soldiers and sailors over here to die in order to help the Americans build a new republic, they sure were idiots! WHo can forget the Americans utter disgust when they saw the French Navy blockading Yorktown in 1783. Those french, the traitors! And who can forget the fact that the French have never gone to war with the United States in over 200 years. The damned sissies! The British, Italians, Spanish, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Germans, Russians, Austrians, Romanians, Bulgarians, Turks, Vietnamese, Phillipinos, Dominicans, Cubans, Mexicans, Canadians, Trpolitanian pirates all had enough GUMPTION to go out and kill Americans while the sad sack French were just creating the BACKBONE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION in philosophy and art. What bores! Anyway, You gotta read this book. It's great. It explains why Americans who known nothing about any country -- including their own -- are now showing the world that they also know zip about the rest of the world. BRAVO!!!

Rating: Summary: France is a socialist and an islamic state. Review: France, since 1945, is not any more a democracy. The Communists combined to the "gaullists" (the party of Jacques Chirac) reign on this country and work against French. They order the press, television, education, the trade unions... We pay many taxes, and we are constantly bug with silly rules (600 000 laws). Our country is invaded by the Moslems (8 to 10 million), and the insecurity and anti-white racism increase day after day. Chirac and his politicians takes us for bloody idiots, they are satisfied to remain with the capacity, to disarm us and stealing us always more money. All that they can make, it is to lie, so that 80% of French continue to vote for them. So don't follow our example, remain free, armed, and responsible.
Rating: Summary: Get Real Timmerman Review: As an American who has lived and worked in Europe...its hard to believe Mr. Timmerman has ever lived abroad with his narrow point of views. Mr. Timmerman should also write books on the way the United States government has betrayed Latin American countries with the latest scandal collaborating in the coop attempts in Venezuela against President Chavez. Mr. Timmerman I hope that after finding no mass destruction weapons in Irak you write an addendum to your book maybe tittle Bush Betrayal of America. Vive la France!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Too radical & provocative Review: Just bought the book by curiosity and will actually return it for the following reasons : As you will read the reviews above and below, this book will either get a one star or a 5 star as it clearly set the tone and everyone will be left with a strong aftertaste (either good or bad). I think the author should have controlled a bit more his temper since, from the first pages, he violently attacks the french governments and clearly indicate that France belongs to those decadent countries with no values and where immorality prevails. While he may be right on some issues, What does he really know about what's going on behind the doors in the political arena ? Every government worldwide have to play dirty in order to get access to natural ressources and other interests. The US is also part of these "modern" countries that have encouraged "under the table" games to get to where they want and often destabilized governments for their own economical interests. And so what ? Unfortunately, that's the world as it is ! In conclusion, this book does reflect true hatred and the supposed "facts" mentionned only increase the ongoing gaps between various places and cultures in the world.
Rating: Summary: Bush Adminstration Betrayal of America Review: I guess now Timmerman is going to have to write a sequel: The Spanish Betrayal of America. Those uppity European countries just won't do what the Bush admistration tell them. Outrageous!!! The reality is that if the United States had listened to France and given the U.N. inspectors more time, they would have been able to establish the same thing that we have belatedly discoverd: that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction. Without this pretext the Bush administration would not have been able to conn the American people into supporting this War. Therefore we would not be stuck in this quagmire with our troops being killed and injured. The French were right all along. It is the Bush adminstration that betrayed America by luring us into the stupid, counterproductive war.
Rating: Summary: this is soooo sad Review: Here is yet another example of rapid fire accusation and brain-dead nationalism that have deprived most American conservatives of the ability to think sensibly about international affairs. Cheap opportunism in action.
