Review: As a spokesperson for a national woman's interest group, I now understand why taking my potential contributors to a gentlemen's club might have been a faux pas.

Summary: Great read and reference for any type of event planner.
Review: Even a seasoned event planner will enjoy the insights that Judy helps to reveal in her book. It is well layed out, even to the point of leading off with location first, which every event planner knows is the number one step in planning. The steps and points of looking for a location, includes detailed information on what to consider when looking. I particulary like the fact Judy includes using her website, which offers additional advice and insight based on her own experinces. I was hoping to read more regarding contracts but overall the book is A+.

Summary: All inclusive Event Planning
Review: Having planned many events in the past six years, I already had a great "base" of experience. I was looking for a great guide to cover all the bases. This is it! Each chapter details all aspects of event planning and prompts you to think about how you can apply the suggestions to your own events. I was inspired to think outside the box to make events more unique and memorable. Additionally, budgeting and proposal crafting were discussed to aid the event planner in making a succinct and accurate budget/proposal for a client. This book is a "must-have" for any serious event planner.

Review: I bought this book hoping that it will provide me with a comprehensive guide to event planning, i.e. since it is the "ultimate guide". The author focuses too much on providing quality customer service. I agree that the author gave some really good insights but ultimately success also means that you are running a profitable business. The financial portion of this business is not covered in details as well as the numerous business correspondences (e.g. sample letters) and agreements that would have made this book the "ultimate guide".

Summary: judyallen@on.aibn.com. For anyone who has to plan & execute a truly special event.
Review: I create-produce-orchestrate worldwide special events which included the opening night celebration for Michael Eisner's/Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" in Toronto which the media billed as a "Beauty of A Bash". I originally wrote EVENT PLANNING in response to the number of calls I was receiving to "run and rescue" celebrity gala fundraising events weeks and sometimes just days before an event. Two tips alone in my book would have saved one event thousands of dollars in unplanned and unexpected costs. One event I became involved in - just as it was about to go to contract - had projected a budget of $100,000 less than what I was able to show them would be their actual reality. What you don't know to ask or include can have a tremendous impact on the success of your event and on your bottom line. I expanded the book to encompass all of my event planning experience - both corporate and social. I am finding that the value and interest in EVENT PLANNING is crossing over to many areas - from the hospitality industry as a whole - event planners; meeting planners; convention and conference planners; hoteliers; tourist boards;incentive houses; restaurant associations; culinary schools; sports event management; non profit organizations and volunteers regarding their fund-raising activities; public relation and communication firms; entertainment companies; wedding consultants to being adopted by Universities and Colleges.
