Summary: More Bias Than Slander
Review: I found this book to be much like "Bias" but presenting a broader view of media bias. "One Sided News" would probably be a better title for the book. The author contends that there is a liberal domination of not only television but also of newspapers and book publishers. She presents many examples as well as statistical data to support her claim that conservatives are treated unfairly by the various media.

She points out the inability of liberals to gain any degree of success in talk radio after several attempts to do so. The internet is discussed as the media by which conservatives are now able to disseminate their viewpoints with success.

Considerable discussion is given concerning the close 2000 presidential election and the positions taken by the TV networks and their possible influence intended or not.
The book is sprinkled with a great deal of humor as the author makes her points.

As a conservative, I enjoyed the book and found it enlightening beyond what I had already observed in the media.

Summary: Ann Coulter- Nutcase
Review: Ann Coulter is one of the worst Americans there ever was. She is a lyer, but we still want to read her crap. When will we realize her filth is supposed to be used for starting fires, not to be read and turn our brains to mush. I feel so bad for the trees that were cut down to tell such lies. I also feel bad for all the bacterium that is wasted in botox just to hide her disgusting, lying face. Oh yeah, Baron 67, you spelled garbage wrong for Lying Liars, but please don't pull a Bill O' Reilly on me and deny it.

Summary: distorted hatred
Review: Frasnkly, I could not finish this garbage for fear I would explode.Perhaps that's what Coulter and her friend Goldberg want us commie liberals to do? React. This book is rampant with poor research (if there is any at all) and unsubstantiated "facts".Has Ms. Coulter never heard of Google or Lexus? She doesn't even need to drag herself to a real library. Apparently that is of little concern to the readers who have reviewed it positively on this site. I recommend to them Al Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liers who tell them" Franken checks all Coulter's claims using reliable sources. You need not be a liberal to check this book out. Just someone with healthy skepticism.
The most slanderous thing about this book is the author herself.
It is an utter hate spewing waste of paper..
This should be rated zero stars

Summary: unreal...
Review: This "person" and "people" like her are ruining our once beautiful country. We used to have ideals as a nation to be inclusive, kind hearted, giving, neighborly. The rising popularity of morons like Ann Coulter and her cookie cutter, cruel minded, mean spirited, empty hearted ilk point in a depressing direction, and we must do everything we can to bring sanity back to our country. Patriotism is not being intimidated to not ask questions, Patriotism is standing up to jerks like Ann Coulter and saying we want our country back! We want to be good again, and we refuse to let you make money off of the hatred, anger, fear, and cruelty that you and conservatives like you bully people into feeling. You stand for this, Ann, and if you read these, I hope you can find it in your blackened soul to stop ruining our country, and our world.

Summary: ZERO stars....
Review: Who could possibly, in their right mind, want to read the rubbish this ignorant close-minded right winged idiot puts out?? Stimulate your mind and read a poetry book instead of this crap.

Summary: Ann Coulter is a TRUE AMERICAN HERO!
Review: Sorry, did I type "hero"? I meant "partisan windbag". I bought the book... read it because I wanted to get both sides of the story. What I got was a vibrant demonstration of the worst kind of American ideal. Coulter is a toad. Spend your money elsewhere.

Summary: Not Much Truth
Review: Why the right wing media is so intent on covering up their own slanted views of the world and blame everybody else, I'll never understand. Coulter, a David Duke in drag look-alike, doesn't bother to attempt at truth. She is perfectly happy doing the ususal right wing thing of attack, attack and attack, without any regard to keeping her facts straight.

If you enjoy the right wing dominated media, you'll love this pack of one liners built around the concept that everyone who disagrees with any aspect of the right's view of life, is anti-American, a traitor and mis-informed. I have to wonder, did any of these types ever spend any time in their American History classes actually paying attention. We are a nation built from dissent, yet dissent is never tolerated in Ann Coulter's world. You disagree - you're a traitor. Trash this book. In another fews years, it will be looked at for what it is, a right-wing attack on America and true American values of honesty, diversity, and fair play.

Summary: Please.
Review: If you believe, as Ann Coulter evidently does, that life is fundamentally simple - that every issue can be pared down to a choice between "us or them," "patriots or traitors," "Christians or the damned" - then you too can write a book like this, a horrible little tract that celebrates the virtues of divisiveness, raw anger, and unfounded belief.

I've recently been reading Ayn Rand's ouvre, and I am dismayed by the clear parallels between Coulter and this novelist/philosopher from the '60s and '70s. Both authors have (or had) a strong following in their time, with multiple books on the bestseller lists. Yet reading either author produces a sensation much like having a hammer smashed repeatedly against my forehead. The writing is not merely harsh or insistent, it is programmatic, it is propogandistic. "THIS IS THE WAY THE WORLD IS," both women scream. 'YOU WILL BELIEVE WHAT I AM TELLING YOU AND, IF YOU DO NOT, YOU ARE WORSE THAN THE PIECE OF EXCREMENT I STEPPED IN THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK." Objectivity is out of the question. Fact-driven discourse is out of the question. With writers like these we are forced to walk reluctantly in the world of Faith, and True Believers, and The Gospel According to So-and-So, Acid-Tongued Celebrity Pundit.

Rubbish. Might as well ask me to take literally every word of the old King James, or believe everything I hear on network news broadcasts. Or, for that matter, trust what comes spinning out of the Bush White House these days.

Is American democracy based on free speech and free thought, or isn't it? Do I have a right to make up my mind based on hard evidence and reason, or don't I? Perhaps I am simply doomed to subscribe to one or another of the COMPLETE WORLD VIEWS championed by self-appointed experts like Coulter or Rand. I fear it is only a matter of time before I am completely brainwashed by either the Left, the Right, the Above, or the Below. Is there no place in this world for rational, hate-free discussion?

To sum up: If you're the kind of person who likes to split everyone into two clearly defined camps so that you can belittle, harass, disenfranchise, or perhaps even prosecute or imprison those who think differently than you, then this book is for you. Coulter's heroic recasting of Senator Joseph McCarthy and the widely discredited '50's mindset known as "McCarthyism" should clue you in to the true nature of "Treason." If you liked Senator Joe, you're gonna love Ann.

For my part, the best thing I can say about "Treason" is: Ms. Coulter looks stunning in a little black dress.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Beautifully written and filled with cold, hard facts.
Review: Coulter displays her brilliant mind in this piece of art that defies the politically correct and berates the media elites and [cuts] the liberal point of view. Leaves the left wing with their mouths open with nothing to do but name-call a little bit more. With a foreword by Rush Limbaugh that does nothing but increase the intellectual value of this masterpiece, everyone should enjoy the proven facts and strong opinions in Slander.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The crux of the matter.
Review: The way I read it, the central theme of the book was whether you can have a neutral press when 90 % of the press consistently votes for one party. This is a fascinating question which would be a great area of study by social scientists.

My own opinion is that you can't. Thanks Ms. Coulter for enlightening me. I now consume my news differently.
