Rating: Summary: To all TJ/YJ owners Review: Even though the newest edition says it has been updated to include up to the 1999 model, information on the YJ/TJ Wranglers is slim at best. It is only two stars for all YJ/TJ owners. This is s true CJ or classic Jeep owner book and has much info on those models. A lot info in this book is too basic. It needs severe updating for the newer models. I would rate it a four star for any CJ owner.

Rating: Summary: Lacking specific repair guides for my 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Review: I needed to see repair guidelines for my 96 Cherokee Sport. Specifically, a wire supporting the radio is shorting-out and I need to remove (I think) the dash board paneling in order to locate the shorted wire. Not knowing If I can simply try to remove the radio/cassett player, or if I need to get behind it somehow by removing the dash board panneling, or by hiring a local midget, I am searching for a "repair" type manual that shows something about how to repair/remove the dash panel. The Jeep Owner's Manual has a lot of general automotive, Jeep-type data, but lacks specifics on individual year/models. Perhaps that's what distinguishes "Bibles" from "Repair Manuals". Anyway, my wife purchased this Jeep Owners Bible hoping it would help me repair our Jeep. Be avised that books promoting "bibles", "everything you need to know", "the only book you'll need", etc. cannot provide detailed info about your vehicle.
Rating: Summary: I want buyers of my book to know what they can expect.... Review: I would like to thank the substantial number of readers who continue to support the original Jeep Owner's Bible and its updated/revised edition, the 1998 release. The many positive reviews, years of brisk sales and an official Daimler-Chrysler part number have been greatly appreciated. Those who have read or fanned through a copy of the Jeep Owner's Bible understand my objectives for this book. In the realm of "cyberspace" and long-distance purchases, however, consumers must make choices based upon comments from either a book's publisher or the limited number of very satisfied or sorely disappointed consumers who take time to "review" the product. Like any author, I prefer satisfied readers. Toward that end, please consider my view of the book: *The in-depth orientation to Jeep products and mechanical insights reflect more than thirty years of professional exposure to Jeep 4WD vehicles. *My goal is to help the reader "think like a Jeep mechanic." I do not recommend this book for the reader in need of a model-specific manual to perform individual repairs. Such information is thoroughly covered in the Jeep factory workshop manual for your model and year vehicle. (My research and reference library includes a full section of such valued books.) *The book covers safe, recognized upgrades of Jeep vehicles, focusing on the more practical modifications required for rugged backcountry travel. *In the current (updated and revised) edition, you will find discussion of the military 1/4-ton Jeep models (MB, M38, M38A1), all CJs, Willys trucks, J-trucks, the XJ, YJ and newer TJ Wranglers, plus reference to the ZJ and WJ models. *For unit disassembly and overhaul work, I explain the fundamentals and emphasize professional requirements. Please note, however, that the Jeep Owner's Bible serves as a companion to, and not a substitute for, the step-by-step procedures found in a factory workshop manual. *If you want to understand the Jeep vehicle, its proper use and care, restoration objectives, safe driving methods and proper outfitting of these vehicles for backcountry use, consider this book. *I wrote the book for folks who enjoy Jeep vehicles and an outdoor lifestyle. Note: Despite the book's substantial length and large number of detailed photos and illustrations, please do not expect the Jeep Owner's Bible to serve as a bumper-to-bumper workshop manual for each Jeep model. The book has, however, helped readers make informed decisions, like when to perform their own work----and when to seek the services of a professional shop or authorized Jeep dealership. As consumers, we deserve useful and relevant products. If possible, flip through a copy of my book before buying. See if this is the product you expected....I want happy buyers!
