Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Balanced Approach!
Review: Teaching reading is an amazing and difficult task. The book Teaching Reading- A Balanced Approach for Today's Classrooms makes the task so much easier and richer. I have been teaching the literacy course for 10 years and have purchased numerous titles searching for the "perfect" text for pre-service teachers and now I've found it! Farris, Fuhler and Walther have integrated literacy instruction, standards, core content, children's literature, strategies and web links. The students are grasping the content due to the material being clearly
written and easily understandable. The reflections and reviews give the students an opportunity to clarify information and
deepen their understanding of the material. This text provides a strong foundation for pre-service teachers to begin the
journey of becoming excellent literacy teachers.
