Summary: Inciteful and Informative
Review: James Perloff rewrites history as it was and not what has been told to the American people. It is informative and also serves as a warning of the direction towards a new world order that our political leaders are directing this country. It helps explain why we do not control illegal immigration and outsourcing of jobs despite the lip service of our elected leaders. It serves as a warning but unfortunately, it may be of little use to reverse this American tragedy that has been developing for so long. I would like to read an update of this book to include current administrations and there influence on this new world order trend.

Summary: American History Exposed
Review: Learn the real reasons why the U.S. entered into WWI, WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. Find out why your taxes keep going up and up and to whom your tax money is really going. Includes shocking revelations on the true agendas of beloved presidents such as Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Reagan. Learn why their rhetoric rarely matches their "accomplishments" while in office. Who were the manipulators behind the great stock market crash who greatly enhanced their fortunes at the expense of small businesses and great numbers of suffering Americans? Who was behind Hitler's rise to power and profitted from both sides of the war? Meet the elite of this country, whose coldness, arrogance and unrestrained greed leads to the death of patriotic and outspoken citizens here and abroad. This and much more is in this tight, information packed book. Don't trust the "media" or whitewashed, establishment approved histories to deliver the truth -- read this book so you will at least be informed as this country marches blindfolded toward socialism.

Summary: Excellent review of the forces moving & shaping our world
Review: Mr. Perloff does an excellent job of reviewing history and laying out the role played by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in the shaping of America today. This book is a must read for anyone serious about trying to understand the political upheaval gripping the world today.

Summary: Excellent and Timely
Review: Mr. Perloff presents a well documented and thoughtful portrayal of American history through the lens one of who understands the insidiousness of the Establishment. This should be required reading in high schools throughout America. I make this last comment as the concerned parent of teenagers who are being taught history from a decidely globalist and socialist perspective in our schools, which are paid for with hard earned capitalist dollars. It is truly a shame.

Perloff describes beautifully and with a proper sense of wonder some of the history of John Birch. Yes, this is the same man for whom the society is named. If you don't know this story of courage and faith, it alone is well worth the price of the book. Read. Learn. And spread the word. God bless.

Summary: Necessary Reading, Regardless of Your Political Sympathies
Review: No matter what side of the political spectrum you are on, you will never look at things the same way again after you read this book. Never again will you have blind confidence in any of our leaders, let alone in the UN, NATO, WTO, IMF, or other such internationalist outfits.

Although the book stops in 1988, reading it (which is a quick, albeit shocking, process) will allow you to draw the proper conclusions and apply them to the present. The power elite fell out of love with Soviet Russia sometime around 1980-85, because 70 years of socialism in a heterogeneous, traditionally non-commercial country had finally brought that situation to the logical conclusion so accurately foreseen by Ludwig von Mises in 1922 (see _Socialism_ by that author). Thus the present elitist lovefest with Red China - which is Communist in name only, and is everything that Russia never was (commercially inclined, and ethnically and culturally homogeneous).

As a result, the Soviet government was allowed to die a well-deserved death, but not before elitists like President George H.W. Bush actually tried to convince the captive nations of the Soviet empire (specifically Ukraine and the Baltic States) to remain loyal to the concept of union with Moscow. This he did even AFTER the collapse of the hardline coup on August 22, 1991, up until the very eve of the establishment of the CIS on December 8, 1991 and the final dissolution of the so-called USSR on December 25, 1991.

Today the subversion process takes on a new form, with fifteen nations instead of one - one step backward, in the hopes of taking two steps forward at a later date. Very Leninistic. Now the prospective empire is the European Union, an entity with a centralizing government in Brussels, its own army (NATO), its own central bank and currency (the ECB and the Euro), and its own court (The Hague) - and yet it has no constitution subordinating any of these institutions to responsible civilian rule. See a potential problem there?

Reading this book helps to explain why so many "former" Communists - such as Mikhail Gorbachev, Jane Fonda, and Joschka Fischer - have readily converted to the militant environmental movement and its pagan ethos. The Green tree has Red roots. Both the socialist and environmentalist movements offer their disturbed adherents a false messiah. The Reds dismiss the Second Coming in favor of a Social Revolution. The Greens offer Mother Earth (a creation, and thus an idol) in the place of God the Father and Civitas Dei. Always the message put to the people by the empire builders is the same: "It's an emergency! The world is in danger! Give us power to deal with it or you will all die!" That's how it happened in Berlin after the Reichstag fire in 1933: A staged emergency, followed by calls for dictatorial "emergency rule." In the case of Nazi Germany and its Enabling Act, we all know how that adventure turned out.

The rank and file socialists and environmentalists...[do not] realize that they are puppets in the hands of the "rich" they think they are fighting. As Gerald Kirk, a former member of the SDS, Black Panthers and Communist Party USA pointed out in Congressional testimony in 1969: "Young people have no conception of the conspiracy's strategy of pressure from above and pressure from below....They have no idea that they are playing into the hands of the Establishment they claim to hate. The radicals think they're fighting the forces of the super rich, like Rockefeller and Ford, and they don't realize that it is precisely such forces which are behind their own revolution, financing it, and using it for their own purposes..."

However, while this book is incredibly enlightening, I must offer readers one note of caution - do not fall into the trap of believing that the leaders of the United States from 1789-1912 were perfect Americans, and then the Money Trust subversion of our government suddenly began with the election of Woodrow Wilson. God bless America - but remember that secret societies and freemasons played a prominent role in her founding from the very beginning. The struggle we are involved in goes at least as far back as 1517, and in reality all the way back to time immemorial, the struggle between good versus evil, heaven versus hell, and the glory of God versus the arrogance of man.

Enjoy.

Summary: Junk
Review: One of the favorite works of those who see conspiracies lurking behind every corner, and believe that someone actually is in charge of everything.

If one really likes this stuff, believes in it, or just is curious, then go to the source and read Carroll Quigley's "Tragedy and Hope" or "The Anglo-American Establishment." They are far more detailed, more nuanced, and come from someone who has indeed done some serious homework on the subject. Perloff does little more than condense and offer a selection of the more outrageous claims presented by folks like Quigley. For that matter, one might just go to another of the sources for folks like Perloff and Pat Robertson ("The New World Order" makes a similar argument with a strong religious overlay) and read Nesta Webster's writings about the secret societies that rule us all. Of course, these folks don't like to credit Webster as an inspiration because she was rather blatant in her anti-semitism. Modern writers of conspiracy theories have learned to avoid such things, but don't dispute any of the claims which people like Webster linked to the secret power of Jewish bankers and Marxists.

There are better books that lay out the same theory of an establishment "ruling" class, and that do so with far more balance and nuance than this one. Try William Domhoff's "Who Rules America," "The Bohemian Grove," or "The Higher Circles" (G. William Domhoff has done some of the best research work on the American establishment). There's plenty there for the folks who think someone is really in charge (and in control) of everything that happens, but all within the context of a rational examination of the actual nature of the American establishment elite.

Summary: A book that the east-coast elites don't want you to read
Review: One of the most amazing books ever written. This should be the history book for the high school students. People's lives and nations have been sacrificed by the power elite for their greed and ideology. If I has a national TV network I would broadcast this book to everyone in this nation! Even more, I will broadcast the content to every nation!

Summary: An imperative reading for the courageous mind !
Review: Political socialization has taught us obedience and trust in authority figures. Questioning these authorities can get you labeled as unpatriotic or as a conspiracy lunatic. By scaring people and/or by belittling them the truth gets buried.
The Council on Foreign Relations has been and continues to be one of the elite's major vehicle that creates and dictates domestic and foreign policies. Mr. Perloff's book is not about a conspiracy theory, it is about a fact of life that might have started as a conspiracy, but no longer is. Everything is in the the open. The elites have legitimized their power by co-opting the bankers, the politicians, the media moguls, the corporate CEOs, the Ivy league school presidents, and even many of the world selected leaders. One world order and globalization have always been the CFR primary agenda. Creation of conflict in the world is the key policy toward achieving this goal; because out of conflict comes change. If you manipulate and create an artificial struggle, you will get the change you desire. The end justifies the means! Divide and conquer!
These are not just cliches or futile old sayings, they are in fact policies of the CFR. The bottom line, is that the continous creation of well designed conflicts will lead to division of nations and people, and make them more apt to join the global community. That is the key strategy for a successful globalization.
Mr' Perloff's book is a brilliant expose of the truth. It is well documented and well written. It is a highly recommended reading for the curious mind !!

Summary: Should Be Required Reading
Review: Read this book and begin to learn what is really going on in this country. Even if you don't agree with every detail the overall theme is overwhelming in its evidence.

I feel inclined to add that one female reviewer who gave this book a 1 star rating has posted the same exact review on many other books covering the same or similar subject matter. It is obvious she has not read the book.

Summary: Very eye opening!
Review: The book is a very compelling read. The listing of CFR members in the back is quite enlightening too! A 'man of the people' will NEVER rise to the presidency. Even if he has his own money, the 'shadow government' controls the mass media, and thereby profoundly affect candidacies.

Being a republican, I always had a high opinion of President Reagan. The author shows clearly how Reagan's actions did not match his rhetoric. This was not unique to Reagan, either. The average American doesn't understand how our President's policies are shaped by people outside the 'constiutional government'.

This book has 'the other side' of American history of the 20th century, and it's nothing like you or I learned in school! This is, of course, by design. Read this book, and encourage others to do so -- it's the only way we, as ordinary people, can begin to take back our country.
