Rating: Summary: Innovative book. It is my favorite. Review: This book is my favorite one! Best one I have read. Very original. Very nice. L'Engle, however, misses the mark when it comes to what a tesseract REALLY is, but she does come close. I was impressed that the planets were named after gods and goddesses of Aztec mythology and Christian religion--Ixchel (goddess of medicine) and Camazotz (evil bat god of darkness), and Uriel (Christian Arch Angel). Never will there by a story that deplicts the existence of evil so chillingly. L'Engle knows evil and only she can portray it the way it is.
Rating: Summary: All 4 time books in one set! Wonderful! Review: I first read the original 3 books in 1982 -- I was in 5th grade and just fell in love with Ms. L'Engle and all of her books (i've read nearly every one). I've re-read them several times, most recently was just 1 year ago. I wanted to make sure they were as wonderful as I remembered. They most certainly are! I've given my niece the entire set and have gotten her hooked. I can't wait until I have children to whom I can share these wonderful, imaginative and exciting books!
Rating: Summary: Wow!! Review: This book is one of my favorite books! I couldn't put it down. So far, I think I've read it 5 times!
Rating: Summary: Loved them then, not so sure now Review: A librarian recommended these books to me when I was pretty young - I loved them and searched for and read all of Ms. L'Engle's books. I reread them in the last few years and found some of the assumptions disturbing. Essentially they are about neglected lonely children who have great regard for their brilliant parents (whose brilliance I suppose excuses their neglect.) When I read them, being a lonely neglected kid myself, these books struck a chord in me, but I found them painful to reread.
Rating: Summary: More books in the series??!!!! YES!!!! Review: Wow!!! I cannot believe it!! A Wrinkle in Time, The Wind in the Door and The Swiftly Tilting Planet were amongst the most loved books I had ever read in my life when I read them around 1977. Since then, I never thought to check on additional books in the series! I cannot believe it! Thank you Amazon.com! Two more in the series! I nearly have tears in my eyes to think of the concept. I am buying them TONIGHT! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Rating: Summary: good book+very susspenceful Review: This book is a very good book I read in school,Robert R. Lazar, with my teacher Mrs. Hummle
Rating: Summary: A Wrinkle in Time is a heart pounding story. Review: A Wrinkle In Time is a heart pounding story that will capture your interest in a snap! Meg Murry takes her little brother and her friend on an unforgettable journey through time. On the way they meet aliens with tentacles, a huge brain that speaks, three very odd women called Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs.Whatsit, and a man with swirling red eyes. They traveled through a land of things so beautiful you couldn1t even imagine it, a planet that squishes you as flat as paper, and a planet called Camazots where everything is gray and identical - including the people! Meg and her family tesseract through evil and fight one of the strongest powers on earth! Our group would definitely all rate it either a 9 or 10 because it1s such an enjoyable book! We are all sure that you will love it too!
Rating: Summary: most enticing Fantasy ever Review: Ms. L'Engle truly captivated the sense of Fantasy. This is the first Meg Murry book and it tells of all her adventures with Calvin and Charles Wallace. If you really enjoy this book, just as I did, then you should read the sequel, The Wind in the Door which brings us back our favorite characters in yet another adventure! A must-read!
Rating: Summary: A beautiful, mind-expanding book. Review: I first read this book at age 11, and have read it many times since. A very powerful message of love overpowering insurmountable obstacles, as well as ordinary people facing extraordinary things (with the help of some extraordinary beings!), as long as you TRUST! This book was quite thought-provoking to me as a child, and I have bought the book for my own child to enjoy. A FAVORITE and one to be cherished forever!
Rating: Summary: The most AWESOME series Review: All of these books are really deep and it requires some thought to read them but they are SO good actually there are five of them but the fifth is about megs daughter (i'm not going to go into that) Strangely enough A WIND IN THE DOOR helped me in school when we were learnig about cells and Mitochondria , all except for the fact that my teacher couldnt grasp the fact about the existence of ecthroi messing up our deepening farandolae. To actually know what i'm talking about READ THE BOOKS!!!
