Summary: Good practical guidebook
Review: This book is a good practical guide for those inclined to experiment with explosives to crack big rocks on your property. I appreciate the author's concern for safety, i.e., stressing a sequential process and working in small batches to avoid the deadly red fumes reaction or worse, an explosion. In fact, Appendix I is devoted to safety. I can relate to this caution since my high school chemistry teacher nearly killed himself and the class with a red fumes runaway reaction. However, the section on homemade detonators is problematical. The firecracker method for nitro is primitive at best. Stick with commercial blasting caps. A word to the wise, don't mess with this unless you have completed your basic chemistry training.

Summary: practical and usefull
Review: this book really has all you need to become a conoisseur of the finer explosives. It covers everything from material choice, recipes for the main high explosives through to detonators, safety and storage tips. Each recipe also includes a very good explanation on how to procure certain of the chemicals needed without leaving a paper trail 5 miles long. I can say from personal experience that these recipes do indeed work, and with a bit of creative chemistry one could convert these recipes to work with some of your day to day bathroom, tool shed or cleaning products to produce some crude yet effective explosives(I have succeeded in this without any chemical experience whatsoever).
the book gives an insight that explosives are within the grasp of any DIY terrorist with even half a decent brain.

Summary: The Book Big brother doesn't want you to see.
Review: Throw away all your military manuals. Toss out your cryptic notebooks. Bury this baby with your the rest of your arsenal. If ever the day the UN troops move in to the US or they start politically correct concentration camps. This is the book for a doomsday day. Buy it, stash it - before they ban it.

Summary: Uncle Fester, you devil you!!!
Review: Well, not a book for juveniles, however for those in law enforcement or chemists, this book provides insight on how homemade bombs are made and used. While not a good conversation piece, Uncle Fester's book sheds some light on how simple it is to produce a healthy "bang".

Summary: Big BOOM!!! (but with security)
Review: WOW! I just received the 2nd Revised Edition and Uncle Fester made a miracle: changed the best into something better!!! Back when I was in the Army, I've served on my Country Special Forces. There, we learned a lot about potent explosives. Back on the civilian life, I've seen a lot of books that promised to teach everything about explosives. Well, to say the least, I spend a lot of money on nothing. Since I had first-hand experience, I can see the difference from the true to the false teachings. Only with this amazing book from Uncle Fester I found clear, complete, easy to undesrtand teachings on a very dangerous field. From my practical experience, I can say all his teachings work as good as promised. If you want the very best book on explosives manufacture, this is the only one to have. Don't take any chances. This book is a secure guide. Buy it.
